I think the KTM can't win criticism has been way overblown for a long time but......

I think Mike Alessi did the most to change the perception that the KTM can't win. (4 stroke era only)

I think he should have said in America at the end of his title.....lol Americans only look at America hence the perception that KTM can't win when it is winning outside their country lol

BT in 2004 when he one KTM's first four stroke world title.

Cairoli winning KTMs first big bike World Title 2010 on a 350.

Langston, Hughes, Hansen (05 east sx). When Everts showed up at Hangtown in '10, it was obvious that ktm was all in.

Langston& Hughes.

Eventhough it will draw criticism, also McGrath. It was over before it started, but he drew allot of recognition to them as viable.

3 time world champ Guennady Moisseev back in the '70's - KTM's have been winning forever.

Was this thread originally meant to talk about legitimizing KTM in the US, and specifically in SX? I don't think anyone doubts their outdoor or GP capabilities, which is why Alessi doing well on one outdoors isn't that big a deal. Didn't Brayton win a national moto on one also?
Right now a KTM has never won or even hit the podium in the 'big show' under the lights here in the U.S. Only one other true SX contender has taken a chance in signing with them (MC), and he got hurt and retired before he even raced the bike, which probably hurt confidence in KTM more than if they hadn't signed him in the first place.
Just my thoughts..

I'd have to go with Ping.
Pretty sure he spanked Stewart at a 125 SX once.

But yeah, KTM have been winning races for a long time.

Ask next fall, Roczen or Dunge

To this point, Cairoli. Dungey will likely legitimize them further for American fans. Roczen and Moosekun might bring it on the 350. The 250 stuff doesn't carry the same weight as the 450's do when it comes to legitimization in my opinion.

In America, Rod Bush. Not necessarily for his riding.
