I think the numbers would increase if there was a full gate. A catch 22 I must say.

I would say that there are 2-3 times more 45 and 50+ class racers than women racers, yet they have three (3) classes

at Loretta's. Explain that, Sir Lumpy ?.

There are plenty, PLENTY of 45+ and 50+ racers. REAL racers. Not slow dudes like me, eating my Geritol while

trying to be BIG MAN ON CAMPUS.

The sad fact is that the C class and in particular LL'S and the C class is ruining amatuer MX in this country. There is no National governing body keeping track of points and C sandbaggers who hold back for years to go to LL's in the C class.

Example, little Johnny kicks ass all year in C he is ready for B but wants to go to LL's and compete in the C class. Little Johnny gets hurt at the Area or Regional and can't go so he holds back the whole next year to go again in C class. This happens time and time again. Then there is the very talented kid who really should have never even been in C except for maybe his first race, who also dominates all year or multiple years to go to LL's for C glory.

The powers that be that should be responsible for keeping track of points and finishes of riders don't do it. It has become a joke! Good luck running a local series, totaly takes the wind out of the sails of the real C riders and makes the sport look like a joke! Some Districts do a good job of keeping track of points and advancement but it is not even close to a fair playing field state to state...

Thats why there shouldn't be a C class at LL's. There will still be the same amount of riders there, they will just be in the right classes and have a reason to advance instead of hold back!!!

Pw 50 class make it 5 and under

multi speed- do away with it

Stock just let 6 year olds have at it

As much as i think it's bullshit that there is a c class......i don.t beleive 9 year olds shold run with 7 year olds.

Get rid of skill classifications ......age class racin is how it should be.....the fastest 15 year old, fastest 14 year olds

6 7 8 9 10 all the way to 18.....25000 try to qualify.....it.s bullshit 12 year olds have to race 14 year olds.
it seems like my kid is always at the bottom of his age class for years now!

MX Sports is a business....... the class with the most participants nation wide wins...... simple as that.

I chose to race the SE where the 50+ class is good sized......I started looking at the numbers in other areas..... 4 racing at the regional is pathetic.

MX Sports has been regulating the C & B participants points for a few years now........the guys racing in C now are legit C riders.

I think it should be like Ponca. they should have A,B,C, and D or Pro,Intermediate,Novice,Beginner. The Pro or expert speaks for itself. The intermediate is for kids who have pointed out or have factory backing. The Novice or C class can be like it is now and the beginner or D can be for kids racing 6 months or less or Cannot have raced prior to January of the same year they qualify. They would make more money on the entries and it would make the C class spread out more. Everyone wins.

I think deleting the C classes from the LL program would actually benefit the sport at the local level because it would give kids that are serious about racing incentive to move out of the Novice/C class. This would make room for more new blood to race in the local C classes without having to race against kids that have been racing their entire lives and whose lap times aren't far off of the local Expert classes. Just remember that for every kid that actually goes to LL's there's 100 more that never aspire to race at the national level.

When I watched The Heart of Motocross it was the kids story racing the C class, Ryan Owens I believe, that I though best exemplified moto. LL is for the young.

Loretta Lynn's should not have so many age classes. Great job on dumping the beginner classes. The girls 9-11 class is now the weakest class that hold not water. They should have gotten rid of it as well.

This crap again?

Do you not understand that the only way that a 9 year old is able to race in the 7-8 class is because they turn 9 after January 1?

I guess you don't understand that the reason it is done that way is so a kid doesn't have to move up an age class half way through a district or other series.

What is your solution to a kid being able to do that?

Geez, come up with something real besides your kids birthday or STFU

There is no place in a National Championship for "C" class. Shit, if it were me, I would get rid of B and C. It is a joke to have a B class Champion when the guy in 30th place in the A class gets nothing.

National Championships should be for the A class only.

If you want a Championship, move up and ride fast!

MX Sports does not administer the RPV system...that would be the AMA.

There are still riders from areas without a lot of AMA sanctioned events (ex: TX and Ca) that manage to slip through the sytem

Exactly, C class is the not quite fast enough class at the Nationals. It is a joke.
11/30/2011 7:28pm
Dropping the C class sounds good in theory, but it would only result in significantly reduced entries at the area and regional levels. The average C rider makes up a LARGE % of the entries and he won't even show up if his only option is to race with B riders. Whatever you replaced it with won't have nearly as many entries as the C classes.

I'm 48. I'm fairly well vested in Racing; so, it's not like I don't have a horse in this race...

I can't, for the life of me, understand how it is that we feel we deserve a 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 class...etc. Segregate the classes by 5yr increments? All the way across the spectrum?

Look, I understand the intent of the 25 ans 30 classes having their 5 yr gap; but, after that...screw it.

This ISN'T the Over The Hill Gang: Go race with them if you want the program to be all about us old guys (It is better racing for us old guys; but, no less "bitchier"!!)

At the Am-Nat's make it 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 and get over it.

I'm all for Davey making the program more accommodating...For ALL...but...he's got A LOT to ACCOMMODATE.

As to the "C" class racing? It is REALLY odd to me that we're complaining about that class now they've got it well policed and sorted out. I completely understand that it's annoying as hell that the lap-times between the leaders of all the various classes are sooooooo close; however, it HAS gotten better.

Making these changes ain't as easy as some folks imply. There's a lot to it and there's a rule book involved that more than a few people have "a say" in.

There is sooooo much good about Loretta Lynn's, that I shouldn't complain , but yeah, the classes need a TOTAL revamping.

MX SPORTS has failed to adjust the class structure with the changing demographic that is AMERICAN AMATEUR

Motocross. For instance, women make up approximately 1 or 2 percent of total mx competitiors but we have three (3)

classes at Loretta's for 'em ? Insane ! Screwing over the MASTERS (45+ and 50 +) is something that we should all be

ashamed of. 1. Be rid of the C classes ( I think we all agree on that one) at LL's. 2. One PRO exhibition class for any

pro under 40. 3. - 25A, 25 B, 30A, 30 B, 35 , 40, 45, 50 and 55 + should all be complete classes. 4. Less than 150cc 2 smoke

and over 200cc two-smoke should be added, too.5. Many of the youth classes need adjusted, accordingly......
Only (2) Womens Classes at Lorettas (the girls are a split gate). I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A QUALIFIER THAT HAD MORE +45 & +50 riders than Women!
The "C" classes are sandbagging jokes and should be dropped from ALL "Nationals".
It is also time to change to a 50 jr. class and 50 sr. class only (I have been to Regionals that almost all the PW's qualified for Lorettas).

ride local races and series and enjoy. who cares if there are full 45+ and or 50+ what ever, they have thier own series and well don't make enough hay for the big boys to consider it a value.

what does a good mx rider that is old do.

ride HS races and enjoys the fun and atmosphere, doesn't sit around all day for 4 laps.

Judging by the level of participation by the riders, and eyes of the industry on this event, they must be doing something pretty good.

Seems the A and B classes get the most attention from the "career" makers. C class probably helps pay for the event by sheer numbers of qualifiers and so on.

Locally the age classes are one of the few that see some growth. We are in trouble with numbers in the micro, mini and youth classes. All the attention in the B class at the national level has hurt the local B classes somewhat. There are a lot more long term top B riders because of that. Until there is a solution to the lack of new riders in those younger classes, we are going to be in for a long struggle.

Between high cost to get started, and lagging economy, we have an uphill battle to entice new blood into this fun deal....

When they turn a certain age that exceeds the class limit, then they should move up. There is no reason that a 9 year-old should still be riding a 50!. Parents think that they have to win their local points paying championship in order to feel like they are progressing. And at the national level, you have these kids that are too big for the bikes and they win the championship in that class. You have 7 year-olds winning in the 4-6 class, 9 year-olds winning the 7-8 class, and 10 year-olds winning the 7-9 class, and finally, 12! year-olds winning the 10-11 or 7-11 class. Move up! nobody will remember that you won a local championship that was solely determined by how many times you raced that season. And yes, I know that a 5 year-old won this year but consider the competition in the 50's class these days. And finally, allowing the 150R to race in a designated 85 class was a good decision.

There already is a Vet championship at Glen Helen every year with plenty of classes for us age and skilled challenged. With that said, the C class is a joke. A local kid won it a few years back and he was as much a C rider as I am RC. The point system is a joke as well. Kids and parents find ways around it. Kids don't go to AMA events or they pull off before the finish. Plus in the Northeast you can race every weekend at a non ama event. On top of that, no one in the "industry" cares about a C title at LL. The above mentioned rider didn't get any more support the following year after winning the title.

Anyone worried about their 4-7 yr olds shot at a national title should re-exam their priorities......AYSO has ruined youth sports. Now ever Johnny and Jilly feels they are entitled to a trophy.....In the words of John Popper "....It's so PC its killing me..."
