Joey is a great kid and a great rider. His dad is awesome too really funny guy. Good family just trying to survive in this sport.
If you want to see Joey ride head over to Matt's site mxptv.com I know he is in the Southwick prep video and some others.

I hope you rip it up next season Joey see ya at the races.

We watched you race a KTM 250 two stroke a couple years ago in Louisiana at a Loretta's qualifier, you were absolutely hauling on that thing. I wish you the best.

Hi my name is Joey Rossi,

I ran the lites class in the 2011 Outdoors Nationals, I had a pretty good season as a privateer. My four stroke blew up four times, at Southwick and Lakewood I was running in the mid teens, three laps to go it grenaded. Thousands of dollars each time. As a privateer this was devastating. Its very difficult to compete against guys who have 17,000 cranks alone, and numerous motors to exchange. I think the experience that I have gathered through this 2011 season has led me to the conclusion that the teams and privateers that continue to run a four stroke, in this economy, are not sustainable with the high cost. I have made a choice to run a KTM 250 two stroke in the Supercross class, and will continue into the outdoors on it. My reasons for doing so are:

1: The bike is 30 pounds lighter than a 450.
2: The bike is 2,500 dollars less off the MSRP than a 450.
3: The bike is nimble and flick able.
4: The top end only costs me 100 dollars, and my dad can do it.
5: Probably the most important, its soooo much fun to ride!

Your question may be, "Can I be competitive on it?", and the answer is a big, "Yes". I raced an 09 KTM 250sx in the A class's, through the regionals , specifically the Mill Creek south east regional, and Lorettas. Here is the link to the result: http://www.racer-results.net/results/mxsports/2009/AreaRegional/results…. Also at Lorettas, both 250A and 250 Pro Sport, top tens. I am hoping by me doing well in the Supercross class, that other teams and privateers will begin to wake up and run this wonderful bike before its to late.

If you would like to be a part in bringing back the excitement of the two stroke sound, the competitiveness of the bike, and affordable racing, any and all contributions would be greatly appreciated. I have set up a pay pal account. Any large contributions can certainly put you on my website and graphics. That is a promise.

Seriously joey take this thread as it grows and call up ktm hq pitch yourself and your program show them what kind of results you've had in the past and tell them you want to put their 2 stroke line on the map by racing them .... Ktm is not a close minded company and if they see potential in you to promote their 2 strokes they will likely take very good care of you. What you're doing is genius from a marketing standpoint I would at least give it a shot ..... I have seen your name many times in the mains so you're definitely capable of promoting the bike .... I would see what ktm has to say if I was you. Good on ya for racing a 2 stroke and good luck this season ill be rooting for ya too

GOOD LUCK BUDDY!

I really hope you qualify for the night show. Looks like you have some awesome talent on the supercross track.

That 2012 KTM 250sx really is a great machine. 50hp on the dyno out of the box and 3-4more with a pipe/silencer/jetting. I can't imagine what a high compression piston, ported head and race gas will yield.

BTW: How much donation would land my name on your bike's graphics?

it would yield a 60hp 200lb assassin of 4strokes in the hands of the right rider.

I seriously hope that this all goes ahead, and if it does I will be right behind it, but something seems a little suspicious. Especially when MXB2 and MX7MX chimed in. I really do hope that I am wrong, and if Joey you are riding a KTM two banger next year, then I will eat my words and give you as much support as I can.

It took this long for someone else to pick up on that huh? I thought Joey already had an account from his rant about people cutting through the pits to shorten lap times at Freestone earlier this year. He could have forgotten his password like everyone does at some point, but I don't think it's asking too much for a little proof this is real to help the confidence of those who might want to actually donate.

If it is the real deal I give Joey credit for putting full sentences and complete thoughts together. Most of his peers on the track aren't so well off.

I took those comments as 2 stroke haters at first... If he doesn't go through with it after asking for donations he will get lynched. Will be awesome if it all does come together tho

Create a Facebook fan page, post some smoker videos

Did your dad race in D-7?

We can help you with a Moto Hose kit

Joey, I raced as a privateer in SX/MX from 98-06, so I know how it is. I will do my best to chip in a few dollars here and there to support your cause.

You should give Chip Munn a call if you are going to race KTMs next year (254-829-0004). He helped me out immensely and I know he is still very involved with some privateer. Tell him TJ referred you.

I am going to answer some questions and comments that have been made:

1: For mods I am going to keep it simple. The bike is already so fast, I don't want to have the same problems 450s have in SX with the bike being too fast and therefor I can't ride it. Probably porting, pipe, shorty silencer, and race gas. I want to leave the stock piston.

2: ScottP - Thank you the kind words. My dad and I must have definitely met you when I was up riding in New England this summer. Western Massachusetts is my favorite riding spot in the whole country. I hung out with Dowd a lot, really good guy and an excellent racer of course.

3: sdfog1 - Appreciate that comment. When I was an A rider getting ready for Loretta's on the two smoke I pretty much lived at the Gravity Alley track in Louisiana and Performance Cycles KTM helped me with all my parts and mechanic needs. Racing all those races in the southern heat really improved my riding and stamina. Good times.

4: Lightning78 - Really smart words. Trust me I am going to do that next week! You are onto something, KTM is not closed minded at all.. Thanks.

5: motoxxx599 - I know Munn racing. They are about an hour from Lake Whitney. They help out Tapia a lot and I passed him in every outdoor this year. Thank you TJ. I will call.

6: For the guys that think I am being suspicious. I'm sorry you feel that way. I say just read the above comments about my dad and I being genuinely nice, and the kind words spoken about us. I feel really strongly about this sport, the two stroke, and bringing motocross back to how it should be. That is why I posted on here. I know there are other people out there that feel similar to me.

7: And yes, I can put full sentences and complete thoughts together. I wasn't home schooled since the age of 6, I went to normal public schools and graduated with a 3.5 from La Costa Canyon High School right near San Diego, CA.

Everybody else! Some of those comments were funny as hell! Made me laugh, thanks.

Braaaaaaaaap!

Hey Joey,
Thanks for the reply. I really do wish you all the success for next year, and you are going to have a massive fan base if you can do well on that thing. Much bigger than you probably realise. Every forum will go crazy, and your name will be on the tip of a lot of people's tongues if you continue to make main events. I'm hoping you do much better than that, and want to see some top 10 results. Now I didn't want to come across as an ass with what I posted earlier, it was just that there seemed to be a strong focus on paypal donations in the first couple of posts, which can be completely anonymous, with no paper trail, along with a couple of comments from a couple of very anti two stroke members, which could lead one to think that this could be some sort of epic scam to get a heap of money out of all the two stroke fans on this site. Now I really hate conspiracy theories, but these days, sometimes you do need to ask questions. Again, best of luck with your testing and bring on A1, I expect to see a 250 two stroke in the main event, FINALLY !!

Your avatar should be a picture of a catastrophic failure in a four stroke engine.

Anyways, Back to Topic. Joey, I was on vacation at Walt Disney when I saw this. Waiting to get back to post this. Well my cash from the MEC didn't get used. So here's my offer, hopefully some others will jump in as well. I will give you $50 per making main event for SX, and if you ever top 10 it, I'll throw in another $50. On 2 stroke only. It is a bonus, I'm tired of donating to a cause that never evolves, so race bonus, not pre donations. If the economy picks up, I'll try for more. Here's something to think about. We all heard about Willard when he won the money from VitalMX for riding the 125 2 stroke. But have we ever heard a peep about him since then? I didn't. So I recommend, if you start doing well and getting the exposier, don't waste it and go back to the chokers. If you gain the popularity and notice from something, don't throw it away. Stay on the 2 stroke, even with OEM offers. There's a reason Cedric no longer will race the 250SX in SX overseas. He got an offer he couldn't refuse, on a 4 stroke. Problem is, he can't get much better results, he was winning. He was winning and did very well on the 2 stroke last year in SX. He got a ton of exposier when he was planning on riding the YZ this last year in the US. Unfortunately he got hurt, before hand. But his popularity of riding the obsolite product, was gained because of the 2 stroke. Look at how many people signed up to watch Rox race the 125 this year. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Joey, did you ever run into Cedric Soubreyas over there in Europe? I'm sure you followed MotoConcepts sponsoring him to run the YZ250 in SX. Unfortunately he got injured. Even so, he raced the 2010 250SX throughout 2010 with many SX wins.

The KTM 250SX will be a weapon in the SX class, but not outdoors.

Have you talked to David Vuillemin? He is certainly a resource for advice and help, as is Cedric Soubeyras (www.cedricsoubeyras.com).

Good on ya Joey, I wish you the best of luck.

Will you be racing all the supercross rounds or just select ones?
