I got 2 days of practice in this week. Beautiful weather in the Zoo Jerz.

As for racing, I got it in 5 times this season. Looking to get 1 more in.

Yes, it was beautiful here. I got to a bootleg track with lots of sand. Great weather, no 5.0 and got back into town with no traffic. Today was a good day. Bet your ass the cold weather is coming.

Race? not any more, i'm too old. It's still fun to get out there and try and mix it up with other dudes on the practice track though.

I raced the last 6 weekends in a row. I just went to a track and rode Saturday. I plan on doing the Top Gun at Muddy Creek this coming weekend.

The best days are when I can go to a practice track and ride a few hours and go home. Racing is an all-day (or night) deal.. plus the entry fees, class fees, hotel, food, ect.

That and I am not getting any younger. Not worth getting carted away on a stretcher for a particleboard plaque or cheap plastic trophy. I treasure the ones I have but I'm not interested in getting more.

I am glad you had a great day with your son. But you title is a little off base. I haven't raced since 1984, and I had to quit because I couldn't afford for two people in the family racing each and every weekend. With that said, you would have to attend a whole lot of races to catch up with the weekends that I have attended.

Not a personal jab, but your title of this thread is way off.

My son races and up untill last year I hadn't been on A bike for 28 years. So I jumped on my sons 450 a couple times and raced once last year. Then last week I rode the bike once just to make sure an old guy like me can still ride and yesterday I raced and got a 3rd in 35 plus and won the 45 plus.

Motocross is easy!Laughing

Went Duck Hunting with my son today....we have a race this coming weekend at a brand new track that just opened by our house called Abbott Motocross.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Abbott-Motocross-Park/185025018216428

It is actually funded by the government and was featured in Racer X a few months back. Everyone was pissed that they built such a nice track up here in Nebraska!!!

I haven't raced in a while, but I'm very fortunate to have a close friend with a practice track on 40+ acres that puts most of our race tracks (with the exception of Budds Creek) to shame. Me and a few of my good friends (we're all A and B riders) go out and beat each other up for 3-4 good motos then head to the garage to watch whatever pro races we might have missed.

Life is funny; When I used to race a lot, I never had anywhere to practice - just 15-30 minutes of (usually) muddy practice in the morning and off to the starting line. Now, I ride all the time and I'm much faster than I ever was when I actually raced.

Do I miss driving 2+ hours and sitting around all day to ride four 3-4 lap motos? (I always rode two classes.) Not really.

We do have a nice Vet series here (with 20 minute motos), so I might try to make some of those next season.

It was more directed towards everyone seems to be posting about pros constantly, and not too many personal Sunday adventures. Its cool to hear peoples (sometimes overexaggerated) race battles or crash stories.

Speaking of cool stories, we have an up and coming rider in the area (he beat mitch dougherty this weekend ) that was play riding around the track and hucked out a 60' table on a crf 80 with ease! It was incredible

I was fortunate to spend the entire weekend at the Pro Challenge in Tyler, TX with my 7 yo son racing and the rest of the family. This was the little guy's first weekend to move up to a SX Sr and ride with the "big boys". He left out with a fourth and a sixth overall. He raced better this weekend than he ever has and we had a wonderful time. Good post!

Rode the Pala Nat track today. Some guy on a Zook 450 was hucking the Chad / Deano launcher at the end of the whoops over and over like it was nothing.

I raced as much as Stewart did in the Nationals this year. The only racing I do now is driving towards a storm lol.

Is it really that bad? that you only get to do 3-4 lap moto's?

Here in NZ, its normal to do 3 x 20 minute motos and the occasional 30 minute all in feature race to end the day.

have now gone over a month without a bike in the shed for the first time in about 9 years and it has been nearly 3 weeks since my last ride, quickly going insane.

Will be back on the race track this weekend , Borrowing my old mans 2007 CRFX to race a local MX race, glad the old boy has a couple of bikes in the shed.

Hopefully not to much longer until there is a new toy in the shed Smile

My kid races, I have glass in my right knee and no interest in replacement surgery.
We have had rain the last few weekends and finally this weekend was beautiful.

My son did SX Saturday, 6th and a 7th, he was a little unhappy with it but I was glad he had a solid day of racing, no crashes or that stuff.

I announced for an MX race yesterday, some great battles through most of the classes.

Sure do race, had a great and fun weekend. We usually are pretty hardcore for motocross but this weekend went a bit different route. Our great local track Sunset Ridge MX had a 2 day event. Saturday was the Midwest Vintage Series and they had a couple modern classes so we did that. It was real neat as they do not run A,B,C classes just displacement or age.

Sunday they had there 2nd annual Grand Prix race which was a 2.1 mile track with woods , grass track and mx track. Lap times in the 5 minute range. It was 2 moto format of 20minutes plus a lap. Usually my boys just race but I decided to try it and it was a blast and I can barely walk today but well worth it. Only bounced my arm off a tree one time.

Super relaxing and to top it off weather here has been great for this time of year.

I went to my first race in two years at alma mx park yesterday. My first moto in the 250C class i almost got the holeshot but got pushed wide and i was running good in 4th until on the 2nd lap I hit a really muddy patch of dirt on top of a berm and went over the bars. I remounted and tried to keep going but i couldnt hold on to the bike because i had mud all over my gloves and grips so i had to pull off.Sad . I wanted to redeem myself in the next moto but they ended up ending all the races becuase of a whole lot of rain that came out of no where. So i ended the day with a 11th place do to a DNF, but atleast someone pulled off before me so i didnt finish in last.

Me and 12 friends rented a track for a ride day sunday When we got there the track was prepped and it looked like a great day to ride. I was taking my usual sight lap to see if the track had changed any. I was riding on the edge of the track to stay out of the way and I hit a hard rut which washed out my front end. I went to stick my leg out to catch myself and ended up twisting my ankle and knee. I rode the rest of the day in pain but it was still a great day of riding. I haven't raced in about 4 years but I still ride quite a bit. I just don't enjoy racing with a bunch of idiot's that I don't know.
