Does he have a camelback under his jersey with the hose coming thru his jersey on the left shoulder?

I don't see a problem with it, I seem to recall another rider doing it a few yrs back at GH, might have been Alessi.

I noticed in the GP RR series, quite a few riders have hydration systems in that funny looking hump on their backs.

If it keeps a rider fresh instead of getting heat stroke and creating a more dangerous situation then what's the problem? Anyone recall Mike Bell running away in the USGP at Carlsbad in stifling 100 deg heat? During the last few laps he was all over the track like he was drunk. He was suffering from Heat Stroke, not sure if he even finished, but it wasn't pretty.

Back when I had my first thumper--01 426, I use to love riding it so much I would do 55 min practice motos with a camelback at SpeedWorld in 90 deg heat with no problem. There would be no way w/o hydrating.

I believe that is his helmet strap hanging down.

Hmmm, appears that smart Zook riders use camelbaks.

I thought that it used to be against the rules, but that obviously changed at some point if it was illegal. I remember Alessi using a Camelback other times with in the last few years. Here's more detail on the GH pics:Vital Buzz

Not dumb, or illegal.

Mickael Pichon did it a few times years ago when he rode for factory Suzuki. How can you make it illegal for someone to take a drink?

It makes perfect sense to me to wear a hydration system. Of course, I'm a desert rat at heart.

One comment though: Don't use a Camelback! The company supports the Sierra Club. They are trying to shut down our riding areas. Other companies make hydration systems that are just as good or better.

Thats nice to have time to grab the mouthpiece in the air - most scrambles dont give you many places to take your hand off the bars safely, its full-tilt from flag to flag.

I'm stoked. It's usually mid 90s at Hangtown. This could be the perfect weekend.
