i hope the next owner keeps it as is, but I wonder if the 2 counties that the track is on will continue to zone it so it can stay a race track.....Sad. We are losing way too many tracks in NY. Pretty soon there will be no place to ride/race, especially in the down state, hudson valley area.

So sad when once famous MX tracks slowly disappear into the green grass and hills. Or, worse off, turn into housing estates. Hope this doesn't happen to Broome-Tioga

Hopefully this gets resolved before it goes to auction. At least it's being advertised as an MX track with plenty of RV parking. Maybe the goal is to sell it as a track.

Oh my god! I was just planning to maybe go up for a practice day. It's really too bad because Tom Hurd really is one of the good guys in this game. Hope he and the family are doing okay.

A motocross track is hardly ever "highest and best use" of real estate unless it is maybe on a power line right-of-way or in a flood plain.

Hope the owners can get things resolved before our sport loses more of it's tradition and heritage.

Yikes. I'd like to know more about that deal for sure. Broome has always been an awesome track.

loosing their National killed that place. the surounding area is major "Hillbilly Turf" who knows what will happen to it?? a bunch of my friends rented the track a few weeks ago and said it was in the worse condition ever, they said buildings were in terrible shape as well. once it's "seized" i don't think theirs any hope to save it unless Hurd is the high bidder?? but then again if he had to loot to bid on it i'm sure he would have paid his taxes. wish he never would have sold Hurricane Hills !!!!!

If i was a top PRO this is where i jump in to save some history of the sport. You would think some of the top guys could pull together, save this track and promote the hell out of it with lessons and ride with day's.

At least the weather looks nice. Shit, if I didn't know it was in NY, I'd say you were posting pics from Eugene Oregon.

That was a hell of a track. I loved watching races from there.

Me too. I don't live within driving distance today but man, did I see some good races there. From the Bailey/Glover 500cc battles to Lechien (well, let's forget that one) to Bradshaw dragging his bars at the bottom on the downhill on a 125, to Larocco and Kiedrowski on 500s, that nasty multi bike pile-up with Dowd, etc. Pichon holeshotting on a PC 125. Man so many memories. Even remember Ray Somo and Larocco (or his dad maybe?) coming to blows in practice. Solid track. Great layout. Can not be replaced.

I loved watching that track but it looked like it would be a fucker to ride... off camber, steep ass hills, gnarly jumps and bumps... brutal!

Well said. My first race was there in March 1979 and boy was it a mudder! Had a blast that day and many great rides there. Very challenging track, but always fun. Have to say thatI saw a GoPro video from this years vintage race and the track looked terrible.
As far as the Nationals, I was lucky to be there for the first one and most up to the switch to Freestone. To add to FullFloaters comments, I remember Barnett and Glover turning lap after lap WFO hitting the same lines consistently, Mike Bell, Chuck Sun and Goat Breker storming up (and down) the hills on their factory 500's, Johnny O on the white Mugen, (back in those days the pits were across the street and you could get close to the works bikes when they wheeled them to the start). Lechein running 224 on a rotary valved OW125, RJ,s rookie year on a Yamaha support Yz125 #212, Hannah in '84 ripping off 2 massive holeshots and going 1-1 on the trickiest works Honda, Bradshaw winning in '89 with HUGO on the back of his Fox pants, MC besting Emig in '96, Yogi and RC being the only ones to jump the big downhill double......the list goes on and on. Was also cool to see the local NY, PA, NJ, New England guys compete as well. Guys like Vertucci, Rice, Moroney, Adams, Kessler, Keller, Coleman, Kiniry etc. Sad to see BTSC go.

Check out MXA's Mid-Week report about 1/2 way down. http://motocrossactionmag.com/Main/News/MOTOCROSS-ACTIONS-MIDWEEK-REPOR…

Weird that the website is still promoting events and practice

agreed 1000%...they could have ride days, local events, pro practices before Unadilla, etc. A top pro or someone in the industry should buy it. I would if I had about a mill laying around. I went there once, the last year they had it and LOVED the track, and according to some it was nothing like it usually was since they were selling the rights to Texas. Im guessing they were more or less forced to sell the rights to Texas. Why would you ever sell the right to a national, unless you're getting a HUNK of cash?

RC ripping that down hill double shook the ground i stood on..didn't know anyone else even tryd it!! Lived between Dilla and Broom Tioga for 50 yrs....id say that Broome was a great spectator track from the rd whoops to the hills you barely lost site of anything..
Still have a 2000 shirt w 199 on the back i wear never...we would visit rigs at binghamton holliday in for stickers etc
Have Reeds millville mud race plastics still covered in dirt....also after those races tearing down 30' FMF/FOX bannners still hanging in the shop,!! To bad about closing
But Taxes in NY are a joke/ liability/ ny regulations on everything...urinals must be 12.6 inches apart on level ground
Any changes causes a re assesment...im sure that helps owner
