Probably the best bike Honda ever built compared to it's competition at the time.

My buddy had an 81 CR250 and it was a pile of shit for sure. I am pretty sure it weighed more than my CR480R and felt like a tank. I did think t it was trick at the time though. The number plate though was an abortion. It is hard to imagine anyone at Honda seeing that thing and saying yeah lets go with THAT one.

You may have your years mixed up. The 82 and 83 YZ 125's were pretty fast. My 83 with PSI pipe and a little port work was very fast. The 84 and 85 YZ's were pathetically slow. I actually took my 83 motor and stuck it in my 84 frame.

I think they de-tuned to CR500 every year after this to make it more rideable. Awesome bike. I have a very clean '84 and the '86 is twice the bike mine is.

I pretty much have every Moto mag going back to about 1979, I have been going through all of them and scanning the pics I like. Easier to enjoy them that way than to root through stacks of mags if I want to find a pic. I just figured I would post them all to my Flickr account so others could enjoy them too.

The KX60 and KX80 are the only bikes that look worth a shit.
