one has rules, one doesnt. it changes everything. one is about discipline, and the other rewards "crazy".

good streetfighters arent good mma guys, and vice versa. not that one cant train to be the other. but just cause you can mma fight, doesnt mean you are automatically the favorite in a streetfight.

for all you who claim to train in mma gyms, i dont know who you train with but ive never once heard a mma guy say that he's comfortable in a streetfight. and i used to train with josh barnett, former UFC heavyweight champ. among others.

One on one, no weapons. The guy who consistently trains slipping and blocking punches from all angles, throwing crisp fast, accurate punches, knees, elbows, power kicks and combos, grappling, submissions, footwork and speed will have a huge advantage over the guy who trains nothing. Its a ridiculous argument.

Enter weapons and sucker punches from behind and its a whole different game.

believe it or not, this was a topic that was brought up often and discussed for shits and giggles.

comparing mma to streetfighting is as useless as comparing mma to boxing...or boxing to streetfighting for that matter.
..your first paragraph doesnt describe a typical streetfight. you last sentence does. thus the reason you cant compare streetfighting to mma.

Almost all the street fights I have been in growing up or have seen did not involve weapons or sucker punches from behind.

This is most likely a topic that is brought up often in every MMA gym.

Agreed. The only thing that can be compared between them is a hypothetical situation of one on one with no weapons or sucker punches, which is very common.

Here's the end of lap 1 and 2 of the 2 stroke final. Lapaglia sure is racing him hard until ryno checks out.
I didn't see anything dirty from my vantage point, but I only saw 10 seconds of their 2+ minute lap.

WOW...you can definitely see from that first clip in the turn after the freeway, Ryno looks over and sees LaPaglia coming inside and just moves over right across him before the finish line jump.

thanks for posting that vid PC

Big deal, not suprising to see at local big races or series with points. Vet class all the way into minis. Its all usually just talk until someone says something to make it personal. You mix that with the adrenaline from the race and shit is gonna happen. Mike bitched out in the vid though. You had time to know Ryno wanted to throw down and you leave your helmet on when he has his off? Bigtime pussy move there! Who knows, maybe he was worried about some recent dental work or something Smile

baaahahaha. i think ryno loses this one (the whole situation). in my opinion he made himself look like a much bigger clown than this mike guy.

i will totally disagree with Mike being a pussy.. i know from first hand experience about fighting at the track with a helmet on.. i got into with a dude at a local race about 10 yrs ago, i had my helmet on still and dude had his off. we started talking smack and decided right then and there we were gonna throw down and see what happen.. i stepped back, started to undo my helmet.. the moment my helmet started to leave my head, dude punched me dead square in my mouth.. never again will i step back and try to remove a piece of equipment or clothing before a fight. cause someone will punch you in the mouth the moment you take your eyes off of him..

man was i pissed at my brother for punching me in my mouth.. hahaha

Yeah, but it's before they launch the finish line jump so no big deal. A little bit of a line steal / block. If RH had done it while in the air then ML might have had something worth getting bent over.

The important thing is we hit 10 pages .... and can move on now. Laughing

p.s. How about a full vid of the smoker race(s)!!!

I agree with this stuff happening. MX is a sport fueled by adrenaline, and that can easily lead to fights. These guys aren't leaders of the country or religious leaders, who SHOULD be the ones setting an ethical standard (but often aren't); They're simply racers. That's all. Nothing more. Just because they get a public forum doesn't mean they're great at everything. They can easily be as dumb as dirt but still do good on a track.

What these guys aren't are good fighters. A person trained in combat isn't going to fuck around with anything less that trying to immediately take out their opponent, and that means causing serious physical harm.

I will disagree with the comment about taking the helmet off. It's a street fight. If I was Lapaglia, I would've used the helmet as a weapon to put Hughes into unconsciousness. I'm not being mean...but if I get dragged into a street fight, I'm not there to lose or fight on some unwritten rules that get made up as people want.

Who knew that so many badass cage fighters were racing amateur MX instead of going into the UFC?? I think Im going to start bringing a gun to the track (Legal in AZ) from now on as I have never trained in fighting and dont want to risk death in the hands of these trained killers if I cut someone off on the track. I know both of these guys...

Ryno and Mike are all jacked up as they pull off the track. Period.

Mike's had a rough time getting the results he wants; hell, Ryno, too.

I was told about this by a freind that stated that, "At-least the bikes got along jus' fine!"

These ar BOTH -2- good dudes that're all jacked up at 8000'.

They BOTH jus' shoulda "Let it go".

And the same guys who are self professed MMA experts are moto experts as well, imagine that.

So many expert "fighters" in here, maybe they could trade fighting lessons for MX lessons with Hughes. F-ing jokers! Hughes blew his stack after a perceived take out attempt, it happens............ Lapaglia stood his ground, both guys threw down, sometimes shit happens.....Don't drink the kool-aid.

the fight experts are hilarious
and about keeping your helmet on during a fight one time in the 80's at Reedy creek on the Gold Coast I saw a dude in a fight and he had an old Arai with the adjustable mouth piece and his opponent grabbed and pulled the mouhpiece down, then was pulling the guy toward his punches it was hilarious.. full using your surroundings Jackie Chan move

I'm just amazed that Vurb had the footage like that. It almost seemed staged, until they start going at it. Either way, it wasn't even a pro national, why all the fuss?

After watching the video, I honestly feel sorry for Ryan. Not because he "lost" the fight, but because as he's standing there after they break him up, he seems like a guy that is passed his prime and upset about it. In that moment, where he's there, blood coming from the forehead, left eye twitching...I saw a man that just realized that he is no longer what he once was. A guy, that tossed his "street cred" up against the wall to see if it would stick, and it didn't-it slid right off the wall-the opponent didn't back down.

I've never been a fan of Ryans...could never get past the arrogant attitude...but even as much as I've found myself rooting against him for his entire career, in that moment after the fight, I felt some sympathy for him.

Lets see:

Fighting after finishing a moto with a motocross gear on. Hmmm..... can you expect more from them. Ryno's blood is probably from Michael's helmet when they hit the ground.

I am a fan of both. They fucked up.BIG DEAL!
