I am getting ready to buy some new tires front and rear. Ride mostly red clay- intermediate to hard(with loose dirt on top).

Looking for suggestions...

Currently running a Michelin MH3 in the rear and a Pirelli MT 32 in the front. Pirelli worked good when new but wore quick and the MH3 is a great on hardpack and wears really good.

Va?...i have similar dirt here in NC, and hardpacked clay with sand on top down in SC. i work with a magazine as a test rider and we did a very large tire test last year....for conditions here with a tire that did good at different tracks with excellent wear...i found the Kenda Budds Creek to be my favorite tire that is affordable, and the HP-4 michelin starcross to be favorite "expensive" tire. you can usually find a front\rear package of kendas from the big outlet type stores in the magazines for 95 bucks...add some new tubes to get it over 100 bucks and you get free shipping....

haha, your going to get just about every tire on the market posted before long. its a matter of opinion. some people are made of money (or have sponsors) and can change their tires after every weekend...or more often then that. others change every 6-8 months because their needs are different. a pro racer on a crf450 and a trail rider\weekend warrior on a RM250 are going to have 2 different ideas on what works the "best". if you mostly ride tracks i would go and ask some of the local pros there what they like to run....they probably know what works good in that specific soil and go from there.

Dunlop 756s are great tires, they just last 1 month.

Bridgestone 403/404 are also great tires, work best in intermediate/hard (budds creek type terrain) and they last about 4 months for me.

Michelin Starcross suck on anything but sand/mud.

Never a better tire made, that last as long, and work as good.

I used to run 756s and they are good but like others said they wear out quickly. Thats not the bad part though. I don't think they hook up that well after they get a little wear. I tried a set of Bridgestones and have run them ever since. I run the M601 front and M602 rear. They wear good as well and they seem to hook up pretty decent even after a little wear. The 601 front is a very good tire. The 602 rear is coser to being on par with everything else. I just bought a set front and rear from motosport for $125.00. I also run a Pirelli rear for mud. They are expensive.

Dunlop 745 front and rear. Awesome tires for Int/Hard tracks. I run them all summer here in SoCal and love them. They last alot longer than the 756 too.

really? whats up with them? I run 756's all around and they seem ok on our MN tracks but are shite in Brasil hard pack and also in so. mn clay. i was thinking of changing to a tire that works great on medium and loose dirt. it seems like the Bridgestones that come stock on suzukis work darn good and last

Appreciate the responses. I ended up putting a Michelin Starcross MH3 on the rear and a 756 on the front. Really did not need a new rear but there is nothing like new rubber!

This is pretty correct about the 756s. If you put 'em on hard pack they will break off knobs even.

This is my deal, with one consideration - The Maxxcross IT is the hardest tire to mount I ever did. I don't know why, but that damn thing is tough, tough, tough. I'd go with 756s except they just don't last.
