But I would really like to try one.

the equipment is looking better all the time and the electric start is a major plus and I like the Steel Frame too.

Not sure about a 350 just because of my size and what I would use it for and still not convinced it's the best option for Professional racers that are not Factory supported, but for everything else probably as good or better.

What was the big bore 2 stroke they used to make, I thought I wanted one of those once.

Also on the demo day's 1 lap won't cut it, I'd like to do a few 20 minute moto's to see what they are like.

Martin Barr holeshot at Hawkstone uphill against Desalle on a private 350 KTM and got 13th at the Dutch GP, I really think the bike is very good for every level. Of course there are advantanges and disadvantages but that is why KTM make both bikes so each rider has the choice of what suits him best.

Look good yes, but wouldn't even waste my money. Used to ride them and they would just fall apart. My friends still ride them for a shop and thats just where they spend most their time, in the shop.

A buddy of mine went from a YZ250 to a KTM 350... He loves it. I haven't ridden it yet, but that magic button is awesome for my lazy ass.

They also had a 440 for a couple years ('94 and '95, maybe more). They had a 540 which turned into the 550 (around '96, when they went orange, I believe). The 550 was a beast! I was in a shop with my dad as he was buying one and my test ride across the parking lot had my attention (and I had a CR500 at the time). Something broke in the internals of the kick starter so he ended up buying a 360 instead (a friend of mine still owns it). The 360 was a better bike but I was looking forward to getting some time on the 550. They made the 360 in '96 and '97 and then it became a 380 but it didn't last very long either. I always thought the 360/380 was a pretty good compromise between the 5-honey and a 250. The 300s just didn't have enough power for the hills in southern Oregon.
