Think this is a great idea. You can’t advertise liquor nor tobacco products on television. Stop big pharma!

I’m not anti pharma but I fully support this since they seem to account for 95% of commercials

Worst actors and animations ever. Can’t wait for drug prices to come down since millions for the advertising budget is gonna be cut. 🤣

I could not agree more. What infuriates me is the way the pharma commercials depict the folks just having this wonderful, happy go lucky day. Then they give the disclaimer about potential death. Wait, what? F off!

Seems to be a new one every month or so. How these things get FDA approval is beyond me. Actually, we all know it’s money driven.

I hate all commercials. Except a few funny ones. The Mafia dude with his dog food in the fridge is an exception. I also really hate pharma ads. Where do they  come up with the stupid names for these drugs? Anyway, as much as I do not like these ads, I also don't like government censorship even more.  A lot more. Stay the fuck out of it.

Put a fork in mainstream media.  Big Pharma is the only thing keeping them alive.

Next up:  "CDC to study vaccines and autism."

Then how does one find out they are allergic to it ? 😁

So the administration wants to censor certain advertising but has absolutely no shame in running a full on Tesla AD in front of the White House. What a two faced phony Trump is. He has spent the last several years trashing EV's until what? Wait for it..........Elon endorsed him.  Complete flip. I wonder if this has anything to do with Tesla's stock tanking?

Thought he was just against EVs being rammed down our throats? You know, being mandatory, basically outlawing the internal combustion engine.

I wouldn’t buy a Tesla or any other limited range, granola hauling eco wagon. Yet, I fully support what Elon is doing with DOGE.

Average people have no clue what drug is best for them,  and throwing those ads out there  to sheeple is stupid.

Im usually not for banning anything,  but those ads are deceptive AF and prey on sick people.

Fuck big pharma.

Censorship, or regulation of the market? I think you are way off the mark.

I must have overlooked it in the Constitution. Could you point out where corporations are granted the same rights as citizens?

It's not part of the Constitution, but thanks to Mitt Romney (that fuck), I'm sure the Citizens United v. FEC Supreme Court case could be used here to show Big Pharma's 1st Amendment Rights were being stifled.

Doesn't the Citizens United decision only have to do with corporate/business political donations/activity? That the argument was if they are taxed then that gives them the right to participate in a government that determines rules and regulations for them? I didn't think it would extend to free speech but perhaps there have been recent decisions based on it that do make that extension.

I could be wrong, but I thought citizens united granted corporations all the rights of an individual citizen.

Commercial speech is covered by 1A. Look it up.

It is a 1A issue so the admin would have to show an obvious harm to the public to get past the courts. The public cannot go out and buy any of these products like they could with cigarettes. Cigs were and are a known health risk and script drugs are the opposite. Where is the

If JFK wanted to do something useful he would examine the pharma/doctor relationship. That's where the corruption is and that's the only way the public can acquire the product. The movie The Fugitive showed how it works.

Yeah why is my doctor advertising drugs on their websites when I go to check-in online.  That feels so slimy and disgusting and is just plain wrong.

Ok, good info. I did look it up, but seems it is not as protected as other forms:

Agree with you on the pharma/doctor relationship. That needs to be addressed also. I want the doctor to prescribe folks the best medication, not the one that benefits them the best monetarily.

If you guys haven’t watched the Netflix show “Painkiller”, I highly recommend it. Based on true events regarding the rise and ruthless marketing of OxyContin and the Purdue family behind it.

If we had real capitalism, purdue pharma would have been held accountable for killing so many people....  their company would have been completely liquidated with all the proceeds going to the victims' families... as it was/is, they are protected by our government through our borderline fascist economy.

As someone from the UK which has a totally different advertising philosophy, watching streams of supercross I found it hilarious and incredibly bizarre hearing an advertisement on TV trailing off a ton of horrible side effects from the drug they're trying to sell. Surely America is the only country you'd see that.

Exactly.

I can just see me going to my oncologist and saying, "hey doc, I saw this television commercial about..."
