It may not be the fastest or most efficient system, and it could definitely stand to improve, but it works, and didn't plunge my entire family into debt.
Are we perfect? No. Is our current PM a total knob? Yes. Will our next one be? Almost certainly. Would I rather live under a US flag? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

As of right now any defecit the US has with Canada is (in our opinion) offset by the hockey/football trade-off. You send us all the guys that can't make the NFL and in exchange you get some of our very best hockey players. Crosby, MacKinnon, Makar, Stamkos, the list goes on. That's why the Stanley Cup has lived in the States for the past 30 years. Hell, even our 2 best U20 kids couldn't play in the world juniors because their American NHL teams wouldn't let them go.
At least my beloved Leafs have the best American player in Auston Matthews. Imagine, a 1/2 Mexican kid born in Cali and raised in AZ is the best player in Canada's hockey Mecca. Strange times.
As for the maple syrup, you'll have to talk to Quebec about it, we're not doing it. The rest of us can't stand those French pricks.
