It's pretty cool they allow the champions to run the number 1 plates. But...

Coz both Lawrence's won if they turn up in the same gear no1 will have any idea who is who.

The commentary team have a hard enough time when the other isn't even racing. They will be screwed this weekend.

Was watching The Weege Show earlier, and he said that if the 450 c-ship was close coming into SLC, Jett and Hunter would race their 250s in the 450 class to help where they could.

I could have swore it was previously against the rules to run the #1 if you clinch early. Maybe because there was no returning champion for either coast, it’s different. But I didn’t think that mattered, and it caught me by surprise that they were allowed to run it this weekend.

Jett as East reigning champ allowed Hunter to run the #1, and Craig, as West champ, is not in that Championship, so good there.

It's just been explained why.

That if they wear the same gear. It is literally impossible to tell them apart.

E and W on the number plates will be the distinction.

Nah not against the rules and has happened almost every time some one clinched early haha

(One thing I don't like about the site upgrade is when posting multiple pics it'll jumble up the photos)

c'mon man that is the weakest lamest excuse ever to not want them both using the #1, given practice day they had different gear then I highly doubt thats gonna happen

They could very easily just, I don't know, maybe have them wear different colored gear?

Weren't all those when the shootout/showdown wasn't a points paying race? That's why it was 1e/1w, and just a #1 at the normal rounds, right?

You are correct. Technically if Craig lined up for the showdown today the #1 is still his.

But the people in charge would drag their scrotums across broken glass to make the Lawrence’s happy

Meh, I see no harm in it seeing that they have clinched. Depending on how you want to look at it they are now the champions of each series.

Yeah actually I think you're right cause I stopped finding pics in the recent years.. I do know the year with Bogle and Anderson was when they tried to have the combined E/W main after the two final points paying mains but couldn't remember exactly how that all worked

Ya I think the heat races paid points as mains then they went to the “showdown”

That’s not how it works, though. Christian Craig is still the defending West Coast champ.

People clinch early all the time but don’t get to run the #1 until the next year

I get it, it’s the Hunta brothers so it’s suddenly special, but literally every champ since the beginning of the series has run the number one at the final shootout.

I hope they do wear the same gear tonight, it might be entertaining to see Todd Harris lose his mind

Any true fan of the sport would be able to distinguish among the two even wearing identical gear. It is not a problem.

CC is not defending his title. He’s in a different class.

Uh, ya? He’s still technically the defending champ of that series and still eligible for the class. That is how this works.

That's assuming the Lawrence's are the ones driving it.. I'd say Honda, Alpinestars and Red Bull would be pretty happy with them both running the big 1's..

I know people say they get hyped too much but for devil's advocate sake it's pretty fucken amazing that two brothers have one (Edit WON! haha got all caught up in the numbers and shit) 2 of the 3 championships on offer in what many believe is the biggest series our sport has! The sport and their sponsors would be crazy to not take every marketing advantage they can from the situation!

I think it’s cool, especially for Honda
