Phone crashes when viewing Vital Forums (Android S23)

Edited Date/Time 1/31/2024 10:59am

Just wondering if anyone else has this issue. This only happens on the vital forums (Never on the home page or article pages) but once out of every five or six times that I come here, my phone will freeze up, random apps will stop responding, and chrome will crash. If I'm quick enough, I can click the power button to turn off the screen and manually close chrome but if I'm not, my phone locks up and stops responding to all touches and gestures. About 15 seconds later, chrome will crash on its own and my phone is usable again.

This doesn't happen on any other sites that I frequent and it seems to have started doing this around November 2023. I come here several times through out the day and idk if it's getting worse but the last couple days it has happened more than normal so I thought I'd bring attention to it.

I googled information about this such as "specific website causing android to crash" and some results showed HTML related issues that could cause this.

Just wanted to share this info and see if anyone else has this issue.

Thanks

Preface:  not an android user

Try another browser?  Can you remove and re-install Chrome?  Factory reset device?

Is your phone compromised and responsible for the malicious accounts/posts?  LOL.  Timing kind of works out..... : )

Hahaha, no my phone isn't compromised. I don't download hardly any apps. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but never tried another browser. I'll have to try that.

I've had two s23's though and this happened on both. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Thanks for the reply

I use Firefox, with an S23 and have had no issues.

In addition, clear browser cache and saved passwords.  Does Android have it's own, native password manager?  If so, clear any saved vitalmx.com credentials.   Just thinking out loud.  Good luck.

Does this happen when you log into the forum? Recently, I've noticed on both my iPhone 11 pro max and iPad pro w/m1 chip in Safari drastically slows down, crashes, and auto refreshes. When I log out and browse the forum, it doesn't happen. But when I'm not signed in I can't see all of the topic posts. In the topic list, before clicking on the topic, it'll show x amount of responses, but when I click the topic to view, I see only one response. When I log in, I see all of the responses, and then it bogs down.

Only happens on Vital and nowhere else. My internet speed has nothing to do with it. Strange behavior

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! I've cleared my cache but not saved passwords. Android has its own password manager but I don't use it. I just use Google password manager. I will try clearing vitalmx data and a different browser.

Thanks again for the help!

Has this happened since day 1 on the s23? Or is this an issue that all of a sudden started happening one day? I've always noticed when something starts acting crazy on Android, it is usually related to a recent app I've installed.

Also, I would recommend ditching Chrome and using Firefox or Brave. Brave even offers the Duck Duck Go app protection. No ads, no trackers, nothing. You'll be a ghost to 3rd parties.

I'm pretty sure just the s23. And I rarely download apps but I'll checkout those other browsers. It's bizarre, I may end up doing a factory reset.

Thanks for the reply

I'm always logged in, never tried not being logged in. I'll try that too. But same for me as far as only having an issue on vital, no where else. Thanks for the reply

I have an S23, use Chrome (and other browsers), and everything works fine.

I suggest making sure all updates are installed, then try rebooting the phone, then Force Quit the App (even after a reboot), then uninstall/reinstall Chrome if possible, in that order.

Otherwise, try one of the other browsers.

Bizarre, I'm going to do a factory reset. I'll update this thread in a week or so with results. Thanks again for all the replies.

Same exact issue here. For some reason free porn sites never cause issues, just vital does.

It's hilarious someone actually arguing they spent over $1000 on a stupid fashion accessory makes them smarter than the guy that spent $99.00

Way besides the point but Android has 70% market share in the US.
im typing this on my iPhone and the only reason I haven’t switched is my iTunes library and laziness. Apple such a bs company. The recent mother earth add feels especially stupid since apple has basically become a synonym for planned obsolescence and forcing people to use lighting etc etc .

I’m not as sheeply as you think, I get an Apple phone free from my wireless provider every two years. I’ve never spent more than $199 on a new cell phone.
But the good thing is they always work.
