No way you jump on a Red Cross that blatantly and not get penalized that will be horrible.

If there was a small double after the finish line, and a Red Cross flag was waving, and a rider finished the race and then jumped that double, what would you do? Because that’s how you have to rule this one. The race was over before he got to the flag.

He won’t be docked. His eyes were focusing on his rut he has to nail perfectly to win the race. Eyes are looking only where he wants the bike to go. Through the rut, give it gas and you are committed to the jump. By the time the flag  was in sight he was already committed to the launch. Red Cross flag should have been given before the corner where a rider would see it before being committed for the jump launch. No way it can be a penalty

That’s never been an argument that worked before this. If it does work it’s a fucking joke

Are you for real ?? The flag was at the begining of and for the finish line jump!! Very clearly shouldn't have jumped it!!

You’re insane if you say he shouldn’t be docked. Flag was clear as day. All he had to do was look up…any other rider would be docked. Buuut the rules don’t apply to the Lawrence bros

If he had to nail that rut perfectly to win in the last corner, what was his excuse for coasting while looking back before the corner?

Could you even see the flag from the bottom of the transition?

Flag was well in sight. It’s not like he hit the face and they through it out real quick. It was out before he even hit the corner.

Terrible place for the Red Cross flag to be.  If you were going inside you’d never see it until the jump face.

PS it’s also beyond the jump on which they are supposed to roll.

The race was over before he got to the flag. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be penalized in some way. I’m saying you have to give the penalty you would give if he jumped on a Red Cross flag 50 feet past the finish line. It’s totally common for them to put that flag out as riders are exiting the track. What would they do if a rider jumped in that moment?

Very visible, plenty of time to brake and roll it. Jett is getting docked 2 positions, shitty but life goes on.

How did you photoshop out the checkered flag waving at the same time?

edit: I see it now. Nice frame choice.

Safety doesn’t stop because of the race being over or where the finish line is located, downed riders and medical personnel were on track and the flag was out. Everyone knows what the flag means.

It is what it is.

So....the race was over.

What if rider is laying on downside of landing jump with medical team tending to them?

The red flag is there for a reason.....there SHOULD be no grey area.

Every other rider didn’t role it. Half the top 10 all jumped it.

I will eat my words.....    I did NOT think they would give him the penalty.

What's been done is absolutely correct though.   I don't care what rider does it....
