Coop

I honestly used to hate the dude.. Always admired his talent on the bike and his sx racecraft is the best in the business, however his attitude and podium interviews in the past really rubbed me the wrong way and I disliked his personality, add to it I’m an Eli guy and hated when Webb won..

About a year ago he gave a great interview on pulp and spoke really high of Tomac which was surprising and really cool, and throughout the last year he has really shown a new side and provided funny and insightful interviews..

long story short, I was really cheering Coop on to win in Foxborough, he has done a real 180 on me, and I’m happy to see him with the red plate and making this title interesting.

Honestly I'm in the same boat, he's rubbed me the wrong way since the "frenchie don't want none" comments, hated the cockiness and head games aspect. I'd prefer to just let the riding do the talking, but in the past couple years he's grown on me. Similar to Reed, wasn't a fan at all until his Suzuki season in 09.

I think Coop has always been a good guy based on others personal accounts of him outside of the lime light.   He played the head games expertly which I am a big fan of.     Pretty sure he still does, it's just more subtle.        Remember, he has always been somewhat overlooked in the sport....and still is. You know that drives him.     He's a scrapper tough SOB and those are my kind of people.

Oh....and confidence is not cockiness.       Wink

Whether he wins his 3rd title this year or not....he has been amazing this year.

He's the same as he ever was, but you are a fickle fan.

fickle? Never.. I cheered Reedy on more than anyone until he was like 56 years old still making mains battling for 10th place..

for Webb, I used to hate the trash talking and swearing then immediately thanking the man above, add to that his arrogance towards others in the past.

I have come around because his humility of late, his ability to praise guys like Tomac and call one of his main rivals a legend of the sport etc.

tThen the “harder than morning wood” and “sometimes you need to jacket off” is hillarious and he is starting to show a little more of his personality and have some fun with interviews, it makes me a fan..

Some of his comments have been hilarious of him to say on Live TV.  After Seattle he said, "from arm pump his arms were as hard as morning wood"  Laughing

In a post race interview they asked him about not wearing a jacket when everyone else had one on and he said, "sometimes you just have to jack it off"  Laughing

Arrogant at times but throws in some fire and you have to give him props for having a rear view camera on when he rides, dude has eyes behind is head!

He could have won the championship fairly easy last year too... Definitely underrated by a lot of people...

How could he of "won it fairly easily" when he was behind in points when he went out?

Considering Tomac went out the next round, when Cooper was in 2nd... had he not gone down and got injured, he could have 'won it fairly easily'... You know, the same way Sexton did when he was behind in points as well. It's not too hard to figure out.

What soured me with Coop, was when Kenny's arm went into Webb's back wheel. He seemed to show no remorse and I think it had something to do with wives, girlfriends, ho's and headaches, my mind is a blur on this. Don't know who was at fault, but the injury was the culmination of off-track BS that began with Cooper.

I started to become a fan after the Gypsy interview. He talks about having to race AC as a kid. He would see videos of him training with Villopoto and Stew during the week, with full factory support, and then have to go race him on the weekend.

It's funny how we all adore AC, but really Webb's life and upbringing is much more relatable and closer to that of the average person/fan than AC. We should have been rooting for him from day one.

I thought it started when someone commented on one of Kenny’s posts  asking what happened to his old girlfriend and Ken replied “she found the leprechaun at the end of the rainbow” referring to Cooper.

As a Dungey fan I appreciate the "what if" game, with the whole Freestone running out of gas deal. But it's saying if Webb didn't get hurt he would have won the title from the guy who was supposed to win it but got hurt. It's a little much. Coop's a badass. No arguments here

I liked how he opened up the last few years too.      One of the things he discussed was how Roczen said "He ain't shit" when someone asked him about Webb many years back.    I have always been a fan of Ken, but that diminished him in my eyes.   ...and look at Ken like AC, never won an SX title.

True. You could 'what if' until the cows come home.. My meaning was that he was 'that close' to being a 3x time champ now..and possible 4x time after this season. Considering his career has been against Tomac, that feat is very impressive!

As a bigger fan of Motocross than Supercross like most of you, it’s hard to root for a guy that consistently quits outdoors. All the qualities that exist for in SX completely vanish in May.

He won me over when I heard about him yelling at Tomac and Roczen on the line during the pandemic races.
