The Coenen twins!!

Lucas and Sacha Coenen, remember these names guys. They might not be very popular in USA right now, but these two 16 year olds kids are something special.

Coming frol Belgium, they ended up 1st and 3rd in Italy this weekend against most of the MX2 european squad (Benistant, Laengenfelder, Horgmo, De Wolf...).

Lucas was 2nd overall in his first ever EMX250 campaign, crushing the competition at the end of the season (he was 2-3 seconds faster than anyone else...) and Sacha is following his steps very closely.

Will be interesting with these two. Seemed once they found their groove on the 250 last year they both were really good. Mx2 will be incredible this year I think

They're supposed to end up in the US in 2024 right?

It's pretty insane how good they are already. Just turned 16 too and are beating most of the MX2 heavy hitters already. They're maybe not title threats yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see them win motos and GPs this season.

Did we ever have twin brothers do good in MX? Can't remember any

Certainly fast kids, follow them on Instagram and they're clearly very talented and look like they're putting in all the work.

Always difficult to say what a 16 year old rider will do in the sport because you never know how injuries might impact careers. But these two are future world and/or AMA champions unless injuries ruin things.

Originally, the Coenen twins wanted to go to the USA in 2024 (that was the plan all along).

They did two-year deals with their MX2 teams though, as neither team wanted to take them on for one year (a learning year).

I think it is for the best that they both stick around until the end of 2024... Lucas may even head to the USA as a world champ!

Yeah i know of a team that had a chance to take them after diga folded up and didn’t want to because it was only a year deal and would require a lot more infrastructure. I’m shocked they have two year deals

Wasn't MX but BMX. Rod and Rex Reynolds from Bayshore Long Island. Rode for team Mongoose in the 80s

Mirtl is their agent, right? Any guesses on if they’re going to stick with their current oem or make a switch when they get here?

Crazy talented kids. Have seen them ride in person on the 85s a few years ago and you got the same feeling as Jett when he was riding one. You just see that they have something special. Anyways, hopefully they can continue to improve and go to the USA if they want to. Sacha is a bit too wild sometimes IMO, but working with Joel Smets will help him alot. Lucas is on a roll since he won those EMX races last year too. A great part of Belgium hope they are. Along with Geerts and Everts the future is bright.

As kids, Mickael and Franck Levasseur were identical twins fighting for French championships with Jean-Michel Bayle and Patrick Demaria (Yves older bro).

Oh wow I didn't even know they were twins. Unsure
Yeah pretty sure they are the most successful ones then.

It makes sense. Why sign them for one year, help them learn and then watch them apply that knowledge with another team?

I think Nestaan were even hesitant about Lucas, because of that, but having two years means that they can get a return...

Lucas has been the steadier one for their entire career (so far). He's bigger, smoother, more consistent. Sacha seems like a loose cannon at times, but he'll get there.

If you read correctly, i said that you can see their talents from the time they were on 85s. Just like Jett. Riding style is completely different

I heard they wants to come to the US. Goal is supercross. Sacha's bike was a special build from bud racing. KX 125 with KTM engine.

Been watching both these kids the last couple years , through 125's and EMX250. Can be a little wild on the track , but their speed is undeniable. I see great things from both of them if they stay healthy. That fast at that age....lots of title's coming their way.

Lucas has developed quicker, you could say, and is more solid than Sacha. Expect a lot less mistakes from him.

Sacha arguably has more raw pace, but no one expects him to hold it together this year. That will be a wild ride...

I hear ya Lewis. I think some of that goes towards just pure strength, as in trying to muscle the bike around better. Lucas is just physically bigger and stronger than Sacha at the moment. Either way, it's going to be fun watching their career's bloom.
