Best Camelback/Backpack? You

Hey guys,

After 10 years my pack left the chat, I need a new camelback. For longer trail rides I need something with fluids but also a little bit of storage space for a cell phone, protein bar, and a small first aid kit.

What are your favorites?

USWE hands down. I always dreaded wearing camelbacks due to the fatigue and my brother gifted me a USWE. Absolutely incredible.

Don't ever buy a Camelback, if they still exist, they hate dirt bikes.

USWE are awesome.  I have three.  One for racing sprint enduros that is essentially just a bladder and a place for a microfiber.  The second is for normal offroad rides and has 9L of space for a bladder and a few basics.  The last is a 16L for all day rides that may need a rain jacket and lunch.

Osprey packs are really good also.  Way better than camelbacks IMO.

Subscribe to RacerX they will send you a Leatt Hydration pack for signing up and it’s a nice one too.

Klim Nac Pack.  3L bladder.  Cross-body straps like a USWE pack so it doesn’t move around.  Uses HydraPak components that are readily available.  The only thing I changed was adding an insulated tube cover.

It fits pretty much everything I need for a day’s ride.  Goggle pocket up top will fit goggles and a ridge wallet.  The front pocket holds a number of other items that I bring with me (power bars, power bank, fire starter, etc.).  Behind the front pocket is a spot for a tool roll/pack (included).

If you also ride sleds in the winter, the pack is set up for an avalanche probe and a shovel.

I can’t recommend it enough.

I've had good luck with my Ogio Dakar 3L. Has a cross body clip similar to USWE.

Are they trying to get public riding places closed?

Any chance you’re accepting applications for week long squatters on that property this winter? Looks like an awesome ride spot when it rains!!😁😁

Another big fan of USWE packs after decades of trying out various brands / configurations of packs. Easily the best for staying place, and not bouncing around. Their moto-designated packs are pretty short on storage; I am using the Flow 16 (part of the their mtb lineup), and find it is good sweet spot of having just enough capacity to carry what you need without being tempted to over-fill it.

For trail work days when I need more hauling capacity, I've been using the Mystery Ranch Coulee 25. Not quite as stable as the USWE packs for very aggressive / dynamic riding, but mighty close for the increase in carrying capacity. This pack carries weight far more efficiently than any other pack I've tried; I ditched my Osprey Atmos 50 in favor the Mystery Ranch Coulee 25 for the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim hike with my brother as the over-packed Coulee 25 carried better than the under-packed Atmos 50.

I’ve been running this for a year now. SCORE races, BITD, Baja rides…lots of Sierra and Desert trail exploration, too. This is by far the best pack I’ve ever had.

Plenty of well insulated water storage and I can even keep my protein bars cool when stashed in the insulated section.

There’s separate and well secured areas for my phone, GPS and wallet/passport. The zippers are stout and the entire pack is very well made. There’s plenty of room in this pack. I’ve “over-nighted” with it.

This is by far the best pack for “staying in place” while I’m riding. It was obviously designed for Moto.
