I still have the last can of Red Bull I drank talking to him that night on my toolbox in my shop. Miss that guy!

Though we’d just email, he was one of the nicest guys I never met.

How did so many people on here know him? It says a lot about his character that he is still remembered by you guys

His race day links/ threads were unbeatable, it was a sad day when ‘those in control’ decided to go another direction.

Ran the race threads. I looked forward to the race threads as much as the actual race lol. 2011 mx with Dunge vs RV vs Reed was a great time for bench racing on here. Scottie was the man

Plenty of people post a lot, but he was such an empathetic and kind guy. It's especially impressive he was that way when obviously suffering a great deal.

Didn't recognize the face but certainly remember the username. He was from a much better era of Vitamx. I mean no offense to anyone.

He was in very early and very active on the moto message boards and in the MX gaming community. Being the pretty tight-knit group it was back then, many people got to know him on a personal basis over the years, both through e-mail and social media, and in real life where they'd meet at races and such. Don't think I ever remember anyone not getting along with him, just all around a super good guy. Always there to help someone out.

First time I came across him he was whipping past me in MCM2 like I was stopped, just blew my doors off. Pretty much relegated myself to non-online because of that! Didn't know who he was at the time but never forgot the gamertag, couple of years later found myself on Motodrive and put two and two together. Pretty much the only one on one interaction I had with him but he really did leave an impression on many of us.

I knew him for the best part of 25yrs, from MCM2. I was part of the OCR team and knew it was an honour when he accepted me in, because he didn't like bratty kids and at that stage I was 16ish.

I finally got to meet him in person when I was 18. Stayed at his house in Redding. Met his crazy cat Ty. Played MCM2 nonstop, just trying to beat each others laps on any and all tracks, passing the joystick backwards and forwards.

Then in 2007 for my year in mx, I actually got my RV plates sent to his house from the dealer, because I bought it in Dallas but had to head to Hangtown straightaway (kinda close to where he lived). He helped make the wooden wheel blocks with me. And a bunch of other stuff to help with my trip because I was painfully naive to a lot of shit. He introduced me to UFC, which I dismissed at the time, but now watch all the cards.

Oh, and he was also majorly pissed off when he found out I got to meet Janine Lindemuller (nurse off Blink182 cover).

He was a great guy, and played a big part in my life when I grew up. I didn't stay in contact as well as I should have, but I know that if I ever needed something, he would have done whatever was necessary to help... RIP

Perhaps one of the surrealist memories I had with him, was sharing the September 11th moment together...

I got home from school early because I had passed my driving test that day. He always had funky hours because of his body clock... So I get home, flick on the TV, and boom the news cuts to NY.... I get online and he's awake even though he's 8hrs behind me. I tell him to put on the news right away! So there we were, chatting and watching and then the second plane... Crazy times.

Oh and he could be a right grumpy bastard Jemcee, but once you were "in", that was it. He couldn't do more for you

I never had any personal interactions with him other than a few thread postings. But he seemed to be one cool dude.

Many already know, OC Scottie is a VitalMX legend. Cool

Like others in here and in the moto community, I became friends with him a long time ago. He was truly a great human. His struggles were real, he shared lots of his experiences with me and hundreds of texts about various things in life.
That night he texted me his final plan, with a time for him to step away from his pain, I didn’t sleep a single minute. I had to get up for work the next day and I struggled to get through the day. I honestly don’t think he ever realized how many people cared about him. The crazy part is that I never even got to meet him in person, but feel like we were closer than many of my friends I’ve known for 40 years. He was an honest guy and loved his moto. I miss you my friend, I’ll catch up to you down the road.

Damn. Scottie loved MX and loved him some F1 too. He was the heart and soul of Vital for years. I can't believe 2 years have passed. I need to get a Red Bull in the next couple of days and have a toast to our beloved OC Scottie. You are missed my friend.

Would be nice if this thread lived in the Hall of Fame and each year it can be brought out for folk to share the memories of OC.
