Does anyone else tap their air filters after cleaning on a clean workbench?
Results are surprising.
A friend of mine put me onto this a while back.

I do it on the curb outside before cleaning.

Edit. You are doing it after the cleaning. I misread.

I gently tap them before cleaning & after cleaning, before applying filter oil... Assume you ride in sand? When I"m feeling really energetic I double wash my filters in hot soapy water & rinse with garden hose..whatever is left in the filter after "cleaning" will be going through the engine.....aaahhhhh cleaning filters, the good times....

I use an air nozzle when they are clean and dry to blow out last little dirt particles

As do I.
Try it one time on one just before oiling.
I do believe that the filter oil may trap the fine grains that I find come out during the tapping process.

Well I do tap the filter against my hand to make sure I don't see any dirt. Its real easy to see dirt in my hand and if I get a bunch i use the air nozzle to help speed up the process. But yes it is amazing how particles of dirt are still in there and I have a multi step washing system lol

I always tap mine over a peace of white paper out of my computer printer. It is crazy how much dirt comes out. I usually spent 10 min on average per filter

Don't get too worked up about it. If you properly oil your filter, any of that left over fine dirt will be trapped in suspension again by the oil.

I just toss mine in the trash, for the $7 the maxima filters costs, who cares. Buy them pre oiled, spray some pj1 on for piece of mind, and forget about it...
