Roberts gets pole. That’s freaking awesome! Can’t wait for the race tomorrow.

Roberts didn't score a single point last year, where the hell did this come from?

I'm digging this helmet Joe is wearing.
It's been too long since we've had an American to represent in the GP's.

Kind of ironic his last name is Roberts. Smile

Did anyone get to see the race it was good and there was great press for the American Joe Roberts.

NBC sports did a good job and they also brought in Ben Bostrum in the studio to pair with Lee Diffy.

Joe did not get the greatest start but he was in second place for a long time (4 laps to go!) the Italians are very agressive and then the Japanese Rider came from nowhere to take the lead and won his first race!

Roberts ended up finishing fourth as Wayne Gardner's son was all over him to take 5th.
good showing for Joe he learned a lot and it was great to be able to root for an American again! 👍

His old website was famous for the umbrella girls section.

He rode great! So cool to see him up front the whole race. Hopefully he can keep up the momentum at COTA.

Awesome race.

Any one of six riders had a shot at the win for the last half of the race, then came Tetsuta Nagashima on a charge...

Too bad NBCS isn't going to show anything but the premier class for the rest of the season.

HEY TODD !! WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO !!

Remaining GP's ...

Indy
Road America - twice
Mid Ohio
Road Atlanta - twice
Watkins Glen
Daytona - twice (why not)
I would say Lime Rock but that track is boring

9 races saaaah weeeeet

No west coast races because the safe zones will keep everyone away from each other by 400feet by this summer.

Well they just postponed the MXGP race in Argentina. I’m sure the MotoGP will be next. Will the season ever start? This is really starting to suck.

He finished fourth overall in the 2007 MotoGP championship I believe.

Sure I do, just didn't know about the connection to Roberts.

Joe did a good job. So often when riders have their first time up front they fold, but he looked good.

FYI, MotoGP released a smart TV app that makes watching races on your TV much easier if you have the season pass. I just downloaded it on my Amazon fire TV. They have a whole catalog of races going back to 1992. I'm watching the 92 British GP right now, this era is great Schwantz, Gardner, Rainey, Doohan is out, Lawson, Fogarty.

Here's an interesting piece on Joe Roberts. Hopper looks pretty rough after all those injuries he's had

Ya, crazy times. Things are getting deep.
Word has Dorna involved in intense communications with Wayne Rainey and his group, motoAmerica, along with the AMA.

Apparently The FIM is concerned with the state of this corona thing in Europe. Some believe the possibility of losing the entire series if things are left as is very real.

The thinking is to just cancel the entire European leg of motogp, and just run alongside the Americans at their tracks on the dates already set up.

Staggered starts, with motogp guys going off 15 seconds before the motoAmerica guys, with points being kept separate for each group is the basic idea.

All parties agree, this would be very, very out of the box.
Almost to the point of thinking it’s...April Fools!

Yeah, that doesn't actually sound like a good idea to me, for several reasons. Can't imagine it will fly. Maybe it is an April Fools gag.

I think Iannone's family has money so he probably won't end up sleeping on people's couches like Gobert did. That was a sad story.
