How about you guys post some good news for a change. Anything unbeat going on over your way? Reason to smile and be thankful?

My family is healthy, I got food in the fridge, the bills are paid, the weather is incredible here, gonna go race tomorrow on the best offroad property in Texas, and my sweety is gonna model some skimpy Victorias Secret undies for me later tonight.

Life aint all bad. Cool

My sister lives in Houston, might be a good time for a visit. Weather here in NE Ohio is changing quickly but all in all I have no complaints. Raced last weekend and won both Vet classes on a 2-stroke 125 Husky. Work is busy, wife and all three babies are happy and healthy. Life ain't all bad on my end either.

But it really is good news, the world is gonna be a better place. Politics can be good news. If the reps would win against all odds, it would be a disaster for American and the world. But sorry!

What kinda car is in your avatar picture? Looks pretty cool, Im an open wheel fan from way back. Reminds me, Im sposed to go by AJ's race shop and drop off an old 1969 USAC program I have for him. That guy has some seriously badass Indy cars in that place.

The car is Jarno Trullis 2003 Renault F1, I had the oppurtunity to take it for a spin. I did 10 laps in it, amazing stuff!

that looks interesting....there are just alot of bugs and flies,so i don't like to compost..i would if i could but i want it far away

i use diluted vinegar for my garden..it keeps the bugs down and keeps the plant fungus from getting out of hand

organic is the goal

How about great news?
I made the best Ham and bean soup EVER!

First, I smoked a 10 pound ham(With cherry tree chips) for about four hours at low heat.(125-130 degrees). Then threw it in the fridge overnight.

Add beans, garlic, onion, pepper and the ham(W/bone), in a crock pot for about three hours. Holy shit! Best ham and bean soup I've ever had.

Oh yea, Don't forget the cornbread!

Geez I hope you guys have had some good news in the last 15 years Cheerful I thought there was a “Good News” thread in here somewhere and wanted to add something so I hit search and typed in good news. It must have been a different thread because the last post in here was before my time lol.
Anyway the good news is our son had a son on Friday ! That puts our grandkid count at 3.  2 girls and 1 boy, the youngest is 2 days old, the oldest turns 4 in January

Looks like the PW50 in my garage is going to get some use over the next few years 😎. Tell us something good !

Holy thread revival sumdood. Laughing

Finally saw my 6yr old get some fight in him at the practice track yesterday. I don’t push him like a crazed mini dad, always tell him to “just have fun.” We just ride the kids beginner track.

Anyway, he rides a TTR50, decided on that instead of a PW so he could learn shifting and again it’s just for fun, we’re not racing(yet anyway). He’s a really good rider, but he gets timid/nervous around other bikes. He’s always overly cautious about passing people because a lot of kids are unpredictable and sort of all over the track. So he’s riding and a couple kids jump on the track behind him. He does a couple laps with this KTM 50 and CRF110 right behind him. The kid on the KTM is revving it, it’s loud and I was wondering if it would rattle my son. It didn’t appear to, but eventually the kid on the KTM passed my kid in a corner. My kid then pins it through a roller section, leaned back doing all he can to hang with this KTM, somehow he stays alongside him to the next corner and immediately retaliates by passing him back. I’ve never seen him ride like that before. What’s even crazier was it was a textbook block pass, he gets to inside then drifts wide to take the kids line away. I’ve never taught him that, he just did it. He then went on to lead another couple laps ahead of this KTM and CRF110, then the KTM kid pulled off for a Gatorade.

Like I said, he rides really good, has good form, almost always in control and has good speed. Even on an underpowered TTR50 he’s constantly catching up to other riders(again on the beginner track), but then he always just settles in behind them. So it was good to finally see him not settle and take the position back.

I’d say good job dad . You allowed him time and space to find his competitive spirit on his own . Something clicked in his brain and said , not today guys . It’s fun to watch isn’t it 👍

That's so effing cool, I wonder if he would have dug in like that if the KTM kid wasn't trying to rattle him by revving it behind him ? Either way good for him, and proud moment for you Cool

We were always on the "Have fun and be safe" plan as well.  I think that's the best plan. I have 2 friends that I used to race with who had kids about the same age as ours. I shit you not every time we went on a ride, be it just a "fun" trail ride in the desert or on a track, it was a lesson. "Don't brake so early, stand up more, lean back in the sand, be more aggressive, you should have done this or that" every fucking ride was a lesson and eventually their kids got over it. When our son (in the picture) went from a PW to a KTM 50 we were out in Ocotillo and he was kind of intimidated by it. He rode it for about 5 minutes and then said he wanted to take the PW on the next ride, we were like cool sweet, do whatever you want, I don't care if you don't ride at all and just want to play in the dirt and throw rocks, we're here to have fun. One of those Dads was with us and was starting to pull the "Lessons" about riding the KTM to our son, I had to tell him to back off and he seemed a little taken back by our nonchalant attitude. Years later our son was faster and enjoyed the sport more, while the other kids got unenthused. That's a great story keep it fun !

Edit: I should add that after ride number 2 on the PW he jumped back on the KTM and never looked back.

I just got back home from a 3 day trip to the coast with my wife. We celebrated our 22 year anniversary Saturday.

I will say this though, I do wish JAFO92 (the OP) would still show up here once in awhile.
A lot of good guys have been missing around here. Some clipped, some staying away by choice.

My Boys & grandkids threw an epic bbq for my birthday today. Reflecting back on my drive home I had forgotten how much I am appreciated away from the track.  Felt great.

Thanks for the spoiler Rawly. I was just going to watch it. I probably still will.
