If one were to buy a 2016 model at a deeply discounted price, what is the best fix for the front fork? And how much for said fix? I assume buying a new set of AER forks would be more than one would save in the end.

Set of AER forks or cone valves. AER being the cheaper option, probably find a lightly used set on the Bazar forum.

Well OR, that is a good question. Never owned one, but from all that I have read, it is the only downfall of the the bike, so I am trying to calculate an all in price if I am going to have to spend any extra cash. The the forks are the only difference between the 16 & the 17, but there is a 2200.00 difference in price.

AER's are like $1900 straight from WP. Cone valves are about $3500 new and setup. That fork is the best example of the 4CS. For 2016 WP basically copied the bottoming cone (huck valve) that mx-tech developed. There's a good chance you can have a good valve stack built and a spring for your weight and riding and be good if you're a bit of an adaptive. If you're the picky type, then who knows.

I have a 2016 350XC. Switched back and forth between the 4CS with various setups, and CV's. There's no doubt the cones are better, although I've ridden pretty good on the 4CS's and forgotten about any issues I thought were there. If you can ride how you wanna ride, and not think or question your forks, then your are good.

Buy the AER's or Cone Valves, you can sell them later when you sell the bike and get most of it back.

The forks aren't the only difference. 17's have traction control and a few other updates besides the AER forks.

Or you can get the CV inserts that go in your stock stanchions. Cheaper than the whole forks and you can sell them when you change your bike.

Best thing you can do is walk out of the KTM dealership. Find the closest Yamaha shop and pick up a yzf 250

Thanks lunchbox yes there are a few other changes but not worth the difference in price as far as I can tell. That is a good point Sheriff-can you get those inserts straight from WP?

I bought a '16 vs a '17 for the discount and rebate. $1k+ and used the money for suspension setup. The last version of 4CS are not bad and much better after being re-worked. Unless you are Pro, you don't need more... The traction control is available on the '16, just need to add the switch... If you get a great deal on the '16, go that way...

The 2016 has a 1800$ rebate. Your looking at 7400$ plus tax out the door. Sell your 4CS on eBay for 650$ and but some AER take offs for 1400$.
The 350 is a fantastic bike.

Find some Cone Valve forks! Forget about pipes or any other upgrades! The forks are most important upgrade you can do on that bike.

Have you installed 17 switch for traction control? I thought about doing that on my 16 but wiring harness and cdi box appear to be different part numbers didn't want to waste money trying it

Ray kit for 500$. Converts the fork to a 2 chamber. Has compression on both fork leg bottoms and rebound on both tops. I Have installed a few. takes about 2.5 hours to fix the fork and 500$.

TotalControlsuspension.Com can put kyb sss internals in your 4cs forks....making it the best fork made. Give him a call. Tell him Josh told you to call.
