...didn't do so hot in the second moto, he pasted that stupid sign with his shoulder. It's amazing he finished at all. I'm surprised nobody noticed it was sticking about 3 feet out into the track.

No kidding, whoever put the rockstar can on the face of that jump should be fired...You could see all kinds of rips in it, Bagget wasn't the only one to hit that thing

I honestly think those things shouldn't be within 20 feet of the track its just stupid the riders already have enough going on they shouldn't have to worry about getting taken out by a damn sign

That sucked for Baggett! He's lucky he didn't get hit or those other guys didn't crash out on his bike.

Apparently, the Rockstar sign-can is fitted with a sophisticated hydraulic mechanism which moves the can further into the path of oncoming riders whenever its sensors detect a bike with a Monster Energy logo on it.

It's not ALL about it, but having big series sponsors is not a bad thing.

This should give you an idea of the view that the riders had as they were heading up the face.

Look at where the high tech Acerbis track marker is, two foot to the left of the Rockstar can! Who's the drunk goofball who lays this stuff out? LOL. Poor Baggett, lucky he didn't get run over. Go check the kid getting taken out by the pole in the 50 vs 450 thread. Rockstar doesn't have enough money to make the advertisemant ten foot wider?

I'm not trying to explain away this one, but these guys do race around track and finish line structures all the time, whether it's Supercross, or MX. Remember Mike Alessi's GoPro video from earlier this year? Indy maybe?

thats the next jump. It looks like one but it's not. If you look to the left of Tomacs wheel you'll see the marker is down for that jump.

But am I the only one who thinks there should be at least a minimum amount of runoff room on the track? I'm not talking about 200 foot buffer zones and gravel or sand traps, but at least a minimal amount of clearance around the racing lines.

Blake Bagget wasn't the first casualty. I was at Steel City yesterday, and during practice the Rock Star can actually fell off the post it was on and onto the track. Unfortunetly, a rider hit the Rock Star can and crashed. I'm not sure but it looked like he may have broken his arm. Then they put Rock Star can back up again, and raised it back into the air. I didn't notice but it must have slipped down the post again.

So these things don't just happen at the USGP then?

I'm talking about the track marker before the Rockstar can. If you stand the one back up that you are referencing, it would mark the track edge. Put the riders tire next to it and think about where his handlebar would be. Right about where Baggets bar hit the can.

I wonder if he would have been so far left if there was not a low line there? How hard is it to make the lip of a jump level across the top?

Regardless, the rule should be that all advertising has to be located at least a few feet off the racing boundary.

The SAFETY of the riders should ALWAYS come first!!!!

Not advertising!!!

That can shouldn't have been anywhere near the riders, plain and simple. End of story.

Just another example of what a vital role those Acerbis markers play at Nationals.

Seriously five percent of them are used in locations where they make sense IMO while the rest appear to just be put up for the sake of putting them up as this jump photo illustrates.

I've pounded a lot of those little yellow markers into the ground at Washougal and I agree. I strongly feel that the yellow markers should only be used to block off areas where the riders CANNOT go rather than marking the whole track where they CAN go. The delineation of the track is fairly obvious naturally and amateur riders seem to do just fine without them.

it's obvious from that view that the sign does need to be extending into the track area there, otherwise the "star" on the can would not be fully visible from that camera angle...

total rider error...

This is BULL SHIT, let me repeat myself BULLSHIT.

Riders safety should come first.

This is not rocket science.

Money is very important.... how can Monster promote its product when its promotions cause hard to the riders.

I WILL NEVER BUY A Rockstar PRODUCT.

I appreciate the post.

To your point about amateurs seem to do just fine without them professional riders at the Nationals also seemed to do just fine without the Acerbis markers for over 30 years too.
