I'm watching old races on YouTube. I really enjoy the mid 90's and early 00's races. That is probably because my age is 25, and those were my formative years.

My question is I'm noticing how dominant Honda was in the 125 class back then in outdoors. Lamson & Henry specifically. Was that a product of the bike and team or were they just rippers outdoors back then?

Also who do you think is going to have the closest career arc or path riding currently?

Team, bike and talent. Doug Henry was a world class athlete and was getting ready to attack MC via indoors until his big crash. Lamson is one of the greatest tiddler riders of all time. Honda dominated racing (bike, innovation, and team) from 1982 to 1996. Only Team Pro Circuit can compete with that domination.

Hell ya, Lammy could rip a tiddler around the track. Love watching Gatorback 97 when him and RC tore through the pack.

I wish Lamy did not get injured in 1997, I believe he would of been a "big" head ache for RC.

Once RC got confidence, no one could touch him.

before honda went to the aluminum delta box fame, the cr125 was the best and fastest 125 in the class

the 95-97 cr125s fucking ripped

thats why all the shifter kart guys used those motors..

lammy managed to get good results on the alumn framed cr125 but that bike went from top of the podium to last place regarding power...

if the newer ones (02-07) cr's had better motors they would of won every shootout because the rest of the bike was that good..the motor(s) just fucking sucked compared to the fire breathing YZ-clone motors

IMO, Honda was the stuff back then.
Lamson, I dunno, always struck me as a kinda cautious rider..........I think he won a championship without winning a race.

Henry and McGrath, now those 2 guys, especially on the 250 honda works bikes, that was something to see.

Crazy thing is, he did win in a race in 98 before getting injured, diappeared in 1999 on a 250, then came back in 2000 on a privateer 125 Honda and led the championship for a while. He doesn´t get enough credit IMO

O'show gets a lot of credit for his second place on a 125 in Italy, but Lamson won a moto in Spain at the MXDN on his Honda CR125.

Lamson got injured and was off for like a whole season (90s can't remember exactly) then came back (on the suzuki I believe) and started winning everything.

and half off the 500s were 600+ cc Husaberg and Husky four strokes.

Lamson won a 125/500 moto on a CR125, on a hilly, rocky track.

Was this the year that there was a giant quad or triple at the Des Nations? Only the Mericans were jumping it so they figured they would take out the middle jump to stop them? I remember something like that happening, this looks awfully familiar.

Yes, the FIM did that in Jerez 1996. It didn't work. Jackie Mertens, I believe, on a 610cc Husky got his ass horsed by a CR125.

I am British , but I do live in Spain .

Anyway Narrator , have you found out yet if Jacky Martens actually rode in that race yet , or should we just carry on taking the piss out of him regardless ?
