I need to replace all the lights in my shop. The last time I did it you could get a 4' 2 bulb light for about $10 on sale. I went to Home Depot and the cheapest ones were $40+, have they gone up that much or am I not looking in the right place?

Ones around me are about $20 for 2 of them. Maybe shop around some more.

I am seeing fluorescent in the $10-$20 range. Also Costco has some $30 LED lights that are pretty good.

I recently got a couple of the 4' dual led kits from costco and it is amazing. 30 to 40 for the assembly with bulbs. No more stupid tubes. I will be replacing my 2 8 footers in the garage with 2 of these led's next. I think these 2 4' will match up but if I need more I will add 2 more of these 4' led. Transporting and disposal of the 8' florescent tubes is a big pita.

maybe , but the ones I bought for my small shop were at 40 from the local HD. LED, white light, linkable to another LED bar, and claimed 50,000 hrs of maintenance free use... I'll take it for 40.

Thanks, the part of the post I forgot was wondering if anyone had tried the LED ones.

Whatever you get, get LED's. Recently converted 62 8 foot 2 bulb t 12 fixtures over to LED and damn did it ever make a difference. Much better.

I'll second the Costco ones....they're cheaper than the depot equivalent by about half price. We just put 9 of them in a 30x36 shop for my uncle. He's happy with them.
I don't have any pics but when I need to replace them in my shop that's what I'll get.

They come with a cord on them, so if yours are hard wired in you'll either have to rewire the light or put outlets in.

I also changed my shop over to led bulbs. The city I live in well pay for half of the new bulbs. The difference in brightness is pretty big.

In MA where I live, 4' LED fixtures are $15 thanks to state subsidies. See if your state has subsidies for LEDs...many do.

Has it changed (helped/hurt) blending the painted areas with the original paint?
Not a pro here just wondering if there was a noticeable effect.

I recently got rid of all fluorescent lights and put normal screw in fixtures with LED bulbs. Fixtures were $3 each and bulbs were 4 for $10. I went with the warmer color temp as the bright white/blue distorts color IMO. LED's is awesome and very bright.

The prep stations and paint booths all have color corrected daylight fluorescent bulbs in them. We also have a few other specialty lamps for helping with color match issues. Still have some that will kick our ass from time to time. Car colors are getting more and more complicated with four and five stage finishes coming our way. Not a fan some days.Laughing

Im currently converting my shop to LED, 13k sq ft with 8 rows of 8' bulbs. Once i realized Uline carried bulbs, i stopped buying them from grainger or HD and Lowes. 15 bulb cases went from just over $400 shipped to $91 shipped at Uline.

To the OP, not sure if this is for residential or commercial, but check with your state and local utility company on tax incentives on swapping out to energy efficient lights and switches.
