Yes we do have as a country a security problem, the drug cartels are jockeying for positions on the border cities (big coincidence ha?) with the U.S. the problem is a multicountry problem. in the case of coke columbia produces it then its shipped to mexico and the cartels where there are mexicans and colombians have american contacts and worse of all american consumers that demand that shit. so dont get on us on this we are saints attitude as you are part of the problem too if americans didnt want drugs there would be no drug dealing with you and no security issues on the border with the u.s.
dont try to generalize all the mexicans just because a few persons deal drugs accross the borders. you are also part of these shit because the cartels usually get firearms at the U.S.
its a sad day for mexican motocrossers and lets treat it like that imagine that a top U.S. motocrosser got killed and we came on the irak and afganistan stuff i guess you wouldnt like it right?

This is the last picture I have of Rene, with his friend Javier Acosta, at Anaheim 2 this year. My wife and I made a point to say hi to him in the pits at every race we attended. He was always polite, friendly, and happy to see us. He will be dearly missed.
The Baja comments are justified given the crime and booby traps. SCORE really ought to seek US soil for the race if they cannot ensure rider's safety from sabotage and violence. A desert race is dangerous enough without having to worry about malicious intent ... especially just for laughs.
Lots of high schoolers crossed there so they could drink legally.
At night the place turned completely crazy and I was chased by a group of Mexicans, on the US side of border. Not sure what they where yelling, but I ran and was able to jump a fence and hide under a deck. they never found me....I still have bad dreams about that to this day. Flat out fucking scary.
Motorcycle champ caught up in Chihuahua troubles

Champion motorcyclist René Reyes Aguirre and two other Mexican racers were gunned down in the northern border city of Ciudad Juárez, the Mexican Motorcycling Federation, or FMM, said Tuesday.
The FMM posted a note of condolence on its Web site, in which it lamented the competitors´ deaths.
It added that "they were victims of the violence that unfortunately Chihuahua and the whole country are going through."
According to local newspaper El Diario de Chihuahua, an armed individual entered the house where Reyes, 24, and fellow motorcycle racers José Refugio Ontiveros and Andrés Mora were staying, and opened fire on them.
Reyes was five-time champion of Supercross SX1 Experts. He last won that race in 2008. Among his international achievements was his 2004 entry into the Main Event in the United States, a competition which brings together the world´s top 20 racers.
Reyes came from a family of renowned motorcyclists, among them his father and his brother.
On Tuesday, various motorcycle groups in Chihuahua marched in protest against the violent death of their three friends.
Nearly 1,050 people have died violently in Chihuahua since Jan. 1, accounting for nearly 50 percent of the deaths nationwide this year.
The entire nation has been plagued in recent years by drug-related violence, with powerful cartels battling each other and the security forces as they vie for control of lucrative smuggling routes and distribution channels into the United States.
In recent months, more and more reports have emerged of innocent victims being affected by the violence.
Army troops and federal police have been deployed to Chihuahua since earlier this year to quell the rising violence. Instead, the murder rate has spiked.
Chihuahua Gov. José Reyes Baeza Terrazas called for a new federal strategy to fight organized crime and reinstate security following a mass killing on Saturday.
Rene and my son were team mates at Munn KTM in the 04 supercross series. This really hits home with me because my son is also expecting his first child and I can't imagine what his wife and family must be going through right now.
Our thought and prayers will go out to the Reyes family tonight.

About 5300 people last year, 200 Americans since 2004, killed in Mexico and 75 Americans missing in MX. It is already spilling over into the border towns, Shootouts at malls and anyother place that rivals see each other or snitches or cops/military that they can't bribe.....The scary thing is it will one day spill completely over into our Country....It is pretty much like living next to Somalia, I was there in 93 and you don't want that shit coming here.....Our law makers need to get on the ball....We as consumers need to stop going to the resorts.....Off my soap box now.
And no it is not just about Colombian coke....It's about the super labs where the cartels make much more profit from Meth than imported coke,...it's not just US border states...it's all the interior supply routes...it is the Pacific coast ports in Michaocan, the ranchitos and pueblos in Jalisco, Zacatecas and every other state....they are not just fighting for the export points!!!
Oh and no 80% is way to high of a figure on the weapons, unless someone is making Korean hand grenades in the states now!!! AK's or Cuerno de chivas are made in several countries...Dude, ther is blame enough for people in several countries...,,
What's the answer? I can't tell you that, i have some ideas, but that is above my paygrade...All I can do is offer suggestions and keep on keepin on!!!
