I don't have any back story to these photos but this is the 2nd new generation KTM picture I've seen this week that have had snapped frames. It looks like the frame failed at the same point on both bikes. Has anyone else experienced issues with the frame or heard of any issues? I'm thinking about selling my Kawi 450 for a KTM next season so I'm curious if there is any merit to these pics or were they simply flukes? Shaving all that weight making things too weak?

I like his outfit. It matches the bike. Looks professional.

The 2nd pic is of a pre 2008 bike, black forks and silver clamps.
Top pic is a 2016, and looks like it saw hell.

Personally I wouldn't be worried about it. I've seen alot of KTMs, and alot of em take some hard hits. Mine included. Never seen a broken frame, not on a KTM anyways.

Yea I wasn't sure if that was a new gen bike. Im not familiar enough with the KTM lineup to tell. I edited the post and took that picture out.

Wait, I though Yamaha was the only bike that had frame issue?

Look closely under the swingarm, looks like there is a link there. Anything that old would have PDS right?

Yes, but the OP deleted the 2nd pic after I pointed out it was an older model.
The 3rd (now 2nd) looks like a 2015.5 to me.

Aaaahhh! The plot thickens!
What we haven't been told is the top pic is of a failed attempt at a front flip and the bike missed the foam pit.Whistling

Michael Ivanov from the Marchetti Racing KTM team.

Did the frame fail or was it the triples and/or steering stem.

And it's the downtube of the frame that is broken. Not the clamps. Old forks and clamps on new bike fine. Frame is still broken on the downtube regardless, and is a current gen frame and engine.

When I can ride a GP or National track and be within 10 seconds of their time then I'll possibly give it a tiny amount of consideration. Until then my Ktm is fine standard.

Seems like someone has an agenda to try and bash KTM on Vital.
Maybe he/she works for one if the Japanese manufacturers?

Any frame can break. It is up to the rider/mechanic to check out the frame after every moto to make sure their is no cracks forming. On a steel painted frame you wil see the paint seperating where a problem is starting, aluminum frames you will see a crack before the frame brakes. Why do you think that the factories strip the bikes down to a bare frame between every race!

Didn't Yamaha have a major problem with seam welds failing on their alloy framed YZF 450 recently?

I have a 2017 fc250. Frame is cracking at the gusset welded at the neck. Waiting to see whether husky is willing to help or not after the dealer reviews the damage.
