Was there a problem with MCR and him or was Geico able to throw some $ at him?

So geico will have RJ, Sexton, Craig, Martin, Decotis, and McAdoo for outdoors? Or is Decotis not doing MX

Huh...my resume must be lost in the mail. I even used a fresh Crayon to draft it.

Decotis is SX only the last I checked...I also heard that Hampshire might be having a shoulder surgery on top of his leg injury?

So Craig and McAdoo for sure...Sexton coming off his femur injury...and maybe there's the slight chance Martin might be on a 450...just throwing that out there.

Pretty cool of MCR to let him take the opportunity. Wonder how much different the bikes really are.

RE: Martin

I sure hope so! That would be great for both classes.

Ditto.

100% agree.

Nice, positive, and courteous move by Mike Genova and the MCR team.

Serious props to the MCR team for letting him go and for their press release!

I hope Honda reciprocates the favor (I.e. Long term support [factory parts + $$$], testing at the factory track) for this. Whether you like or hate them, MCR has done a good job in the past (and currently) and should be a legit factory support team for Honda.

Idk why but id like to see martin on a 250 for wyhat would be his finale out season on one. Hes the only legitimate title chance outdoora they have anyways. If he moves up to the 450 more power to him tho.

There's a good article on RacerX about the whole situation. Pretty interesting insight on the future plans as a 450 team goes. May be old news but it's the first I had heard of it. McAdoo's switch makes much more sense now.

This only strengthens MCR's relationship with Honda. This is their first year as a Honda satellite team, a move like this POTENTIALLY pushes them into a spot similar to Rock River over at Yamaha. I know a lot of people have been historically critical of Tony Alessi but that MCR team is run really well by him and Mike Genova. Honda hasn't offered as much support or had as many satellite teams as other brands in the past but this makes me think they will move forward with MotoConcepts beyond this season. Say what you will about Friese ruffling feathers on the track, but Alessi, Brayton and Chisholm are classy veterans who handle their business for the most part and challenge for top 10's every weekend.

Don't fret for MotoConcepts, this is huge for them. McAdoo has been their guy since amateur days and Tony and Genova groomed him really well. He won Monster Cup All Stars, got his AX points and started strong in his rookie season of supercross--all on the MCR Honda. His stock is way up going into the GEICO deal.

Good deal for McAdoo, good on geico and MCR.

The last paragraph of the RX article is funny.

ya the geico team is pretty depleted, even their amatuer guys are tore up. 4 months is relatively quick for a femur to recover, and even then its pretty tender for awhile.

Geico will be lucky if these 3 make the start at their current attrition rate.

Who knows maybe theyll give Jimmy a shot outside too. not likely

my question, does MCR hire someone for the rest of east?

Did Decotis expect an outdoors ride? He's been in the class for years and never showed any results to speak of, makes much more sense that Geico Honda would pick an upcoming kid.

Jimmy D is out from Geico if you read between lines of he´s latest post. He seems little too angry to me as he always been helped by Geico over years? Anyways that Mcdoo kid looks really good so he might be making top next year.

Yes looks like he is out. Jimmy got enough chances in the past.

Awesome of MCR to do that for the kid. If you followed the from the beginning they seem to have only did the 250 stuff to help the kid.

That Racer X article is good. That was a very noble act of Tony to hand over McAdoo on the condition that he gets a contract for 2018 also. Say what you will about Tony in the past, but he is a really great guy now

I agree 100%, I hope this will show Honda that MCR is an important part of the Honda program/development and will slip them more factory support in the future. Very classy the way it all was handled by the MCR team.

Great for him, Honda and Geico. Very classy from MCR. No doubt they will gain in negotiation power/partnership with Honda, but also in term of branding in the amateur scene to grow young hopes. Joining the MCR program means now having options to Geico then Factory Honda. Cool!
