Rewatching the Indy SX......he is so smooth and technical....the rhythm before the whoops......he wood single in and effortlessly wheelie the takeoff.....it didn't look super impressive but always having the power on and hooking up makes him haul.....I hope he brings this momentum outdoors.....it's been a long time since I have been a fan of a french rider....Tortelli was the last.....

I also rewatched that race last night. MM looks great and i would like him to win.I heard that Will Hahn used to ride a KTM in like 09 or so. True or False? anybody.

It seems that a lot of the GP guys have a deceptively fast style on a bike. Look at Pourcel in his best days over here. He looked like he was always a gear higher than everyone else and looked to be just taking it easy and riding around the corners with his feet on the pegs like a Sunday stroll. But he was FLYING. Everts was the same way. Watch him ride against Bubba during the MXDN. You would swear that James is riding sooooooooooo much faster but clearly it was the other way around. I love that effortless style.

Daytona is rough as guts too,it takes something special to ride that place as smooth as Marvin did,Herlings is pretty similar too, they both kind of climb over the bike and work it,Lommel was hell but he just floats over the stuff,Paulin too, often a Euro thing(on slower/rougher tracks?),but Dungey is smooooth as hell too, look at him Vs Villopoto at Indy

There is a vid on UTube on JMB that shows the style pretty good and to why it looks smooth but slower than say a James Stewart. Keeps his body over the pivot rather than moving with the bike making it look aggressive.

See if I can find it

He showed us all how fast he was at the nationals last year. It took him and Roczen a while to adjust to the rough and tumble style of American motocross, but they seemed to have adjusted nicely. They certainly don't lack ability.

my favorite rider ever. he is the most naturally talented person to ever grace the seat of a motorcycle in my opinion.

he was the first guy to blitz the whoops, while all the other guys would still rhythm through them, and don't get me started about his mud riding ability- he made the great Jeff Stanton and all the other guys look like amateurs.

I love hearing stories about him never training or practicing and just goofing off at the practice track, eating junk food and whatnot, all while Stanton would be out on the practice track putting in countless laps practicing and heavily contributing to bike development.

How dare you compare Musquin to Bayle, just because they're Frenchies! Wink

I'm taking a liking to Marv as well, but I still want Wil to win the championship, his whole family needs some validation from this sport!

That young man is exciting to watch. He is smooth, but when things start to go a little bit awry, like his swap in the whoops last night, ya' get a feel for how fast he's moving. The guy's bad-azz!

I would agree with your "he is the most naturally talented person to ever grace the seat of a motorcycle " if you added the word European because my vote would go to David Bailey for the most naturally talented American rider......K-Dub a close second.

I think it was at Atlanta that JMB picked off four riders in a whoop section and he made it look so easy. I was at the USGP in 90 (?) when he won all three 500cc motos.....and during all three motos it looked like he was trail riding.

When you have that much talent it must be you don't have to use as much energy as the guys who are having to work at it so you don't need to be an Ironman. I heard that JMB did a lot of yoga so he also had the flexibility. Will never forget seeing the bike landing squarely on his low back after a gnarly endo at the San Diego SX one year in a heat race but he was able to come back and race the main.

Back to the subject I think Musquin will be tough to be this summer outdoors.

there is this guy named Hahn leading the points by 6. He could get second to Marvin at the next 2 rounds, go into Vegas just having to finish in front of him for the title.
