A few weeks back a video was floating around about Davi being less than enthused about the progress on the bike. Is there any update at all? Is he starting to get help from Roger and Ian or what?

got a link?

tore some ligaments in his ankle, didn't even crash supposedly. that link doesn't supply much besides reed sees potential in millsaps and he's got the dough to buy him out.

That's a tough decision for Millsaps to make. . . He was super succesful with the team he had last year. . . I'm sure he has some sense of loyalty there. But if the bike isn't working with him, then I'm sure he has to make a decision to go wherever he has the greatest chance of winning. Time isn't necessarily his friend at this point. . .

What a bummer. Looking so good last year on the Suzuki, Rockstar moves to KTM and he doesn't get along with it, broke his foot, and now a rumored switch to TwoTwo which means another bike to try and dial in? Clock is ticking and so far not a very good start to getting ready for SX. Hoping he gets healed up and quickly and gets things sorted, I like seeing him in the championship mix.

Sadly (for KTM, good for DM) i think he will adapt to the Kawi much faster than (if ever) to the KTM.
I think i sence a MC/KTM flashback here. I always wondered if he announced hes retirement just to get off the pumpkin team...

TwoTwo will be a great move for Millsaps, I think. He can bring more sponsors to the table, probably a raise in pay, great techs to set up the bike...and the knowledge that he's basically on a no-limit budget so he'll be on the best available. I'm pretty sure that PC and Kawasaki have a lot of experience setting up the KX, and it'll be less of a challenge than it was on the Katoom.

why is it so hard for these guys to set up their bikes? If they practice 5 days a week, then why is it so hard to get the bike setup? sounds like an excuse when the bike isn't any good. "the setup is off" translation "that bike blows"

Why is the KTM still twitchy even after they installed a rear linkage?

Are the forks wider apart than the jap bikes?
Is the steering stem angle wrong?

I'm no engineer, but the Japanese favor aluminum frames while KTM favors tubular alloy ones. The theory is that the tubular one will be more forgiving because of the inherent flex, while the aluminum is much more rigid and less comfy. Is this part of the reason KTM seems to be having difficulty making it's riders happy? Seems like it would be just the opposite...seems like slamming around a SX track would be a lot easier on a chassis that had more "give".

Can one of the experts here 'splain? Is the above all meaningless BS...and is the bottom line: the KTM 250 & 450 suck?

I don't think at this point, with the technology available, that it's any bike as much as it is the rider.

Besides, Millsaps is going to retire before A1 anyway and start a lucrative lawnmower racing career with the infamous "Kicking Grass and Taking Names" lawn mowing racing team.

I find it be when u here a rider say that. Or there not used to a new bike. I'm not Ricky Carmichael , but it doesn't take me a month to get used to it. Not bagging on Davey at all, but latest year I got so sic n tired of hearing Andrew short and how he went from factory Honda to privateer Honda to KTM. His results where pretty much the same on every bike. And they where the results expected from him.

there was a bike setup video deal on here sometime back for millsaps rmz450. the mechanic said and laughed that davi likes his suspension super stiff. after being on aluminum framed bikes for so long i would think its possible he may not like the feel of the chromoly frame even with similar style suspension settings, IE it will never have the same rigid feel that he prefers because thats not a feel you can accomplish by suspension changes.

honestly from the video, his concerns just sound like normal teething issues. i mean the guy admitted he has not been on the bike all that much, or at least not as much as a casual fan like me would expect, but i could be way off base here.

there was another interview with him where he said that the ktm really wasnt that different from the japanese offerings, obviously im paraphrasing here.

I feel bad for DM. He had his best season ever and was surely looking forward to (hopefully) improving even more this year. But with the manufacturer change, combined with his time off the bike, it has to be a tough thing to deal with.

Rockstar goes great with Suzuki. Looks like doo doo on the KTM.

Monster goes great with Kawasaki. Looks like doo doo on the Yamaha/Honda/KTM.

Red Bull looks great on the Honda and KTM, but looks like doo doo on the other brands.

Muscle MIlk looks like doo doo on any brand because of their doo doo fork guards.

DM needs a Suzuki ride. He can use last year's settings and he'll be good to go.

So the Ktm sucks because RV2 beat down on dungey and 38 other bikes out there this season. Honda are shit because chad said so. This reasoning must only mean Kawi are shit because rv2 is the only guy in the 450 class doing anything with it. Suzuki are crap because millsaps and james got injured on it. What else have i missed. Husky to rule the world...........

Setting up a bike for the over 40 class, and setting up a bike that you feel comfortable on for 20 laps through a set of SX whoops etc are two entirely different animals.

DM18's mechanic said in the teams YouTube video last year that Davi can tell if he has .5 difference in his tire pressure so what do you think it feels like to change frames?
