After the terrible events in Brussels yesterday I want to show my support for many Belgian friends and celebrate their rich history in Motocross!
My wife Jo and I will never forget our invitation to the Belgian Ambassadors residence in Washington DC at the 2007 MXDN in Budds Creek, travelling up to DC with team in a mini bus, getting changed in gents washroom to find Jo chatting to the Belgian Ambassador like old friends before all press and dignitaries arrived.
Being invited to present my painting to my childhood hero Roger DeCoster with the world's press camera flashes, awesome feeling of pride.
Belgium is such a great country, so many great riders, tracks like Namur and Lommel so let's show our support for them in a positive way and pray for the innocent victims of terrorism.
Please share your favourite riders, photos of a proud nation and people! ................and fcuk ISIS you murdering scum!

Malherbe and the man
Cool topic! While i am not Belgian nationality (i'm dutch) i have lived here all my life. When i was a little kid the sport of motocross got allot of media coverage here, mainly due to Everts / Smets / Bervoets doing really well in the world championships. So it was pretty easy to keep up with it all without internet back then.
One of my favorite moments i ever witnessed was going to the Lierop GP in 2006 to see SE72 capture one of his world titles. The place was absolutely packed and everybody was cheering / celebrating non stop.
The Shop
could not get enough pictures back then.
Outside the rail station in Namur..
The Citadel. That's right.. A motocross track built into an army fortress first built by the Romans in the year 937..
From here, the distinct sound of motocross bikes echoes from the hillside into the town...
The track does not disappoint..
Neither does my VIP pass.. All the gourmet food and Jupiler beer you could consume..
King Stephan would clinch yet another World Championship that day; his first time doing so in front of his home Belgian fans
Again, beyond proud and thankful for the experience of a lifetime..
There's was rumblings of Namur returning any info on this?
Hopefully one day, but Green party run local government so no for now, This is an article on my blog.
That's who I think of when the words Belgium and Motocross are intertwined.

I know a couple of Belgian friends have seen this thread and express their sincere gratitude for thinking of their beautiful country, kind, generous sporting people at their time of need.
Motocross might not be able to do anything to stop terrorism, but it can at least remind us of the good things in life, friends, family and a shared love for this great sport.
Best wishes to everyone popping over the border to Valkenswaard for the GP of Europe on Sunday qualifying and Monday racing!
Happy Easter too to all my fellow Vital contributors, hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

Namur 2007
Probably the coolest track in the world.
Finnish rider Arto Panttila in the mix as well. Wich has been very rare in the last 20 years.
