Idk people have been winning championships on single sided exhausts for......ever. Seems like extra weight for minimal advantage. I wonder if the increased hp/tq makes up for the weight addition.

Honda has duel tail pipes and silencers not head pipes, way different. Duel head pipes has one pipe for each exhaust valve / port. Duel tail pipes and silencers just adds more silencing and weight balance.

Even tho the engine is different I can't say Honda went the wrong way, there new engine is a direct answer to there previous engine. What Honda can do with there R&D in suspension and there mapping ecu is insane. Probably weeded out the idea of dual exhaust ports and headers.

What do you mean jeff? This is the 18 250 concept, dual camshafts, dual exhaustports and dual exhaust, there are some spy photos out, and it won the a japanese round completely stock against some really trick bikes

TM have huge experience running full twin systems on the SM bikes, and now on the Moto3 project... the bikes are fast, Samuele Bernadini isnt a small guy and he rips on that 250

That's a bit like saying people were winning championships for years on twin-shock bikes! We didn't need mono-shocks, USDs, water cooling, exhaust valves or four strokes..

If the Honda does have dual headers, do you guys think exhaust companies will come out with a single sided exhaust that has two spots for the header ports? Or is that not possible?

I am sure there has been a ton of dyno testing done to get that exhaust to make the right kind of power in the right RPM band. If it works you will see everybody jumping on the bandwagon. I am sure Honda has learned a lot from their Moto3 250 roadrace engines, they are a DOHC motor with 2 individual exhaust ports. Knowing Honda they may even run different cam timing for each valve to smooth out the power delivery. If that is the case they would have to run individual header pipes to keep the exhaust pulses from fighting with each other. Who knows, I do know that the Honda has better top speed this year than the KTM Moto3 bikes. Should be a fun bike.
