I’ve been using the cheapest goggles basically forever: Scott Recoil. They get the job done and are very reasonably priced. Have wondered lately what I’m missing over the premium options from Scott, Smith, Oakley, etc.

What am I missing with my low budget goggles moto-bros?

Better foam that flows air better but also absorbs more sweat. Better sealing foam to keep dust out. Better injected molded lenses that are not only safer but much more clear than standard lexan lenses.

When you wear premium goggles, you will not go back to the cheaper ones.

Besides the Fit /Breatheablility/ Clearer lenses/ foam density and moisture wicking and the straps stay in place very well... The cheaper ones seem to stretch faster in my opinion.

Oakley Airbrakes. I tried to love 100% and eventually I wanted lenses that didn’t scratch.

I'm a fan of the 100% accuris. They're the best combo of price, durability, and quality components. I use the racecraft as well and think they're also a good goggle. Haven't rode with Armegas yet so can't comment on those. Keep tear offs on and you won't have to worry about scratching lenses.

I have Oakley Oframes $30, mayhems $60, crowbars $80 and Scott Prospects $110. I can say I feel the difference In the prospect to the other 3. They are a really nice goggle and you can tell all the things said above about them. But all do the job. Crowbars and prospects are saved for race day only as I’m not that into buying $100+ goggles. Mayhems and o frames for practice/everyday use.

If you don’t have a nice pair I’d splurge and get one at least for race days.

For the longest time I used Dragon mdx goggles but bought a set of Oakley Mayhem Pro and was blown away. Go figure it got them on sale because they were being discontinued. Oh well I bought a bunch of extra laminated tear offs and a couple sets of lenses that should last me. Don’t over look a good pair of goggles

Two other reasons why I run Airbrakes is the open nose area really makes it much easier to breathe, and the way the goggles are designed really opens up your vision compared to almost every other goggle. You can see so much more, especially in your peripheral vision.

I splurged on a pair of oakley’s and then was severely disappointed. I paid for what? I’d rather have 4 50 dollar goggles than 1 200 dollar pair.

As others have said. You only have 2 eyes.
People have no problem spending a few hundred on a performance part to make them “ faster” but cringe at spending $100 on quality goggles.

I like the accuri but the racecrafts pinch my big nose. Maybe the new ones are nice but I'll have to try them in person.

Best thing to do is try some on. Prob cant go wrong with any of the big brands.

The newer FLY Racing goggles are really nice. I currently wear their mid-level ZONE goggles and love them. No complaints at all.

The new ‘gen 2’ stuff is modeled after the fit of the Armega and is supposed to not pinch your nose. I haven’t gotten my hands on a set to try just yet though.

Yep. Spy Foundations are pretty sweet goggles. You can find them for $50-$60 if you look hard enough.

I just run a single tear off at all times with or without the pull part. No scratches.

I like the EKS brand goggles with their new molded lens. The lens reminds me of the old Jones goggle lens and the Airbrakes.

Those of you with Foggy issues...

Make sure your cleaning your google frames and getting all the dust, dirt and sand out of the foam. Like an air-filter, that foam gets loaded up and flows less air.

Also -DO NOT- wipe the inside of your lens when it's fogged or wet/damp. Many brands use a film that "gels" when it's moist and it will SMEAR; so, be careful.

Dragon pulled out of "promoting Moto"; but, they appear to still be making product. Since they've ABANDONED my sport, I've gone to Oakley's. The Airbrake has nice thick and hard lens that lasts and is VERY scratch resistant. You can get clear and grey lenses at a decent price if you shop around. I found Airbrakes on sale at Oakley and a few Moto online distributors for $80 (and they came with a 7 pack of lams).

Sure, Airbrakes are expensive...but...damn...they WORK!
