Total beast mode! Hard to not be a fan of Febvre. Things are looking good for him in the championship so far.

Finally a thread about the last laps in moto 2. Incredible ride by Febvre, almost a little throwback to the the historical ride in Maggiora last year.

Look at the way Febvre goes down the hill when he passes AC, he wheelies down over a few bumps and gets an incredible momentum gain over AC in the turn.

Febvre is the real deal. I love watching him ride and his personality seems to be pure class. He's definitely my favorite GP rider and I'm hoping he can win this championship, which I think he will as long as he doesn't get an injury.

The pass on Van horbeek was just as impressive as the pass on Carioli. It appears as though he takes his hand off the bars as he's passing Van horbeek on the inside, which is crazy.
Edit: re watched the video, he definitely pulls a tear off as he's making the pass.

Carioli looked like he was pushing hard to re-pass him and couldn't make any ground. That's freaking impressive. That downhill drop that he passed Carioli on looked steeper and more chewed up than the drop at Glen Helen.

It would be cool to see a Yamaha step up and rain on KTM's parade. I like KTM but I like seeing different brands on the top of the podium even more.

His pass on Cairoli was fantastic.

Two great laps and two great passes.

Did van Horebeek and Cairoli slow down in lap times in the last 2-3 rounds? Because i can't see this being a planned move by Febvre to wait for the last two laps (that would give him very very little time). If he felt he could take them i would have thought he would do that with at least 3-4 laps to go, but he wasn't gaining anything serious on them in the 5 laps before the last 2.

His last lap was like half a second slower, if I recall correctly, than his fastest (on lap 2), so I'd say he stepped it up!

Febvre set his second fastest lap on a last lap. Everyone was kind of settling down, but Febvre upped the pace in a last laps.

Febvre went faster. 2.04, 2.03 and 2.02 on his last three laps.

AC 2.05, 2.05, 2.09

JVH 2.04, 2.09, 2.10

It's clear that he went faster in the last 3 laps then the others because he got up in front :-)

It's just that I'm surprised that he would wait untill the final 2 laps to go for it. Standing at the track it didn't look like he was gaining much during the 2nd half of the race at all. And the gap was that big with 2 laps to go that at best he would have a chance to get 2nd.

The data from Kongols supports that.

Febvre fell (i think in lap 8, which was a slow lap).
Between lap 9 and 14 Febvre gained a total of 1.6 seconds on Cairoli and 1.5 on JvH. Not much at all.
Then he passes both JvH and Cairoli in the final 2 laps, closing a gap of over 3 secondson Cairoli and set his 2nd and 3rd fastest lap time in those laps as well.

Great racing, just unsure why he didnt push before the last 2 laps.

Not sure but possibly because he had armpump in the first moto and he was afraid to give a way the overall win by pushing too hard to early.
Or maybe he wasn't even planning on taking the win, just follow his teammate and pass him late in the race to take second in the moto and the GP win

Looks like Nagl and Strijbos were still going at it. Strijbos had his fastest lap in the last lap. 0.100 seconds quicker than Febvre.

Strijbos had the speed to win but had terrible starts. In most of his laps he was working through the field, so the actual lap times during the race don't reflect the speed he had.

I don't even think that the three rounds so far have been on tracks that favor Febvre. He's only going to get faster as we move forward.

On hard packed and slick, that dude will be hard to beat. I've seen the race at Loket last year multiple times. The trottle control he has is amazing and to me it's poetry in motion watching Febvre ride tracks like that.

yep, when they get back to Europe it will be Teutschenthal, Arco, Talavera, St Jean and Matterly Basin
He should be good at all of those tracks. Hope Gajser can keep up

Nice ride by Febvre, but Cairoli sure left the door open for a last lap.

I've watched it several times and I still don't get how he manages to wheelie over the bump and then make the corner. So impressive. Too bad that there isn't any GoPro footage of that pass!

Febvres lines were clean and Cairoli looked like he was lost, based on the lines he was taking.

That inside was not faster and it was way rougher, but Febvre made it work. Him going down the hill was crazy, I bet it was 50/50 he makes that corner.
