Picked this ‘19 450 SX-F up for my son.
We have owned all the Japanese brands with minimal issues. He rode his buddies 18.5 FE and loved it. Was able to sell some stuff and pick this one up from Magic Racing. Very pleased with the purchase experience.

When they get rid of air and no where near 4cs, I may go back. Till then, they look good, but not a chance.

If I were loaded I'd consider one with cone valves. But then again, If I were rich, I'd have ktm 51 barcias (or whatever it is) bike and be posting rolls of Scott on the daily.

The AER48 is right on par with the Yamaha KYB stuff. What more do you expect or need?

I tend to agree. I was on Yamaha / KYB for years and was super concerned about switching but honestly, AER is fine. More than good enough for 95% of riders at the track.

Biggest setup issue I've seen is riders not realizing that the front wheel has to be off the ground when setting the air pressure.

We found a huge difference in the air forks vs spring. We upgraded to Dal Saggio Sphere cartridges and will say it was worth every penny! My son had let the bike sit for 2 months and went back to riding he YZ250F because he hated the front on the ktm so bad. We tried everything and just could not get it to settle in the corners like the KYB stuff.

Thumbs up on the purchase! Bike will feel rigid for about 5 rides. Gotta live with it until then. Run softer suspension settings initially. After break in will end up going firmer.

Key to AER is realizing it’s an air spring. Find a pressure (spring rate) that works and stick with it. Use clickers for tuning. Personally love them for the bottoming resistance.
The clickers really respond. Can feel a single click change. Rebound has a big effect on this fork.

Air got a bad rep early on the Japanese models. Guys accept a mediocre set up not realizing it can be exceptional. They give up because it’s air. Personally I think stock the compression valving is too aggressive. During break in I was like 22, 24 out on comp with pretty low air. After revalve more in mid range.
