A troubled friend of mine started that, he couldn't decide whether to say "Nice Boobs"

or "Bike Boots" and, um, he's easily confused. Forgive him. He's special,

@jreeves884, dude, i was wondering who would be the first one to re-tweet it. Smile

Interesting rumor and they say that the source is very reliable but that's very interesting because the strong rumor was that JS who has tried them and really liked them couldn't wear them in 2010 due to his A-stars contract. The very strong rumor was that RD10 was their rider for this season.

Very interesting.

Very exciting and positive to have a major company like them entering our industry with specialized products.
The next one we can see here soon would be DC Shoes. It should be easy for them to work on boots. From skate to snowboard to moto is a short path Smile

I think i read on Racerhead back in the summer that NIke were going to make MX boots, and that Dungey would be wearing them.....but JS7 and Dungey are sponsored by Nike so we'll see at A1!

I hope they are a hit. Nike stepping into MX is huge but if they turn out to be a Cannondale, that would be a nasty exit from our little sport and a tale retold many times to future possible newcomers.

I'm guessing you might see a pair of Nikes on the track at A1.

If he's wearing anything that resembles that atrocity than I quite motocross forever. You read it here first.

I believe that I definitely will take Nike over Alpinestars and maybe Gaerne. Depends on their look. I believe NIke has enough experience to know that a company shouldn't launch a product that is not marketable and worth it's amount of $$.

What about Nike MX boots that you could only purchase through Nike ID (so fully customizable)? I would think those would be worth $500 (when you see the cost of the Tech-10, the SG-12, the Crossfire). They wouldn't sell more than a 100 to 150 pairs the first year but that would be pretty cost efficient to start. Go slowly and carefully before releasing the blitzkrieg!

I think companies like Nike and DC would be nothing but good for the sport. I welcome any company that would like throw their hat into the ring and make a quality, competitive product.

Will they be made in America I wonder, or sweatshops?

Niki is very smart, their approach into the skateboard and bmx world was brilliant. Had they gone out and signed the top riders/skaters with million dollar contracts, they would have been perceived as a huge company coming into those sports, trying to make money, and their image would have been associated with guys who "hardcore" skaters and bikers consider "sell-outs".

However, what they did was sponsor a team of relatively unknown super-badass skaters and bikers, to appeal to the "hardcore" group. It was a genius move as far as I'm concerned, because I've seen big Mt. Bike companies come into BMX and leave in a few years, but man, skaters and bikers alone, for the most part just ate the Niki shoes right up as if they were a rider owned company.

If this is true, I figure they will be around for quite sometime, generating tremendous wealth to a group of individuals who have never thrown a leg over a dirt bike.

Although I would never own anything Nike, I agree with you. The more big names in the biz the better.

I figured they'd just follow the model they did when they bought there way into hockey, just purchase one of the two major players outright and rebrand the product.

They have "purchased" (others called that sponsorship) for a few years already, Reed, Dungey, Stewart.

So, 101, apart from your boots made in Italy, for the rest, you ride stark naked? ha ha ha ha.

the berik's were a decent boot, I got a pair of The OVS Pro models for almost less than nothing.

The buckles were cheap though.

I thought Ricky knew someone in the Berik Development, or something like that. I currently own a pair, and I like them. Although my dealer gave me an 11L and a 10R. Oh well, who needs a brake? I think the #4 on my feet give me luck.
