Just found out today from a friend that you should put "grease" on the rim of your airfilter.? Is this true and if it is what kinda grease?
Please see http://encyclopediadramatica.com/N00b
On that note grease is good if you are riding really wet conditions, or in suzukirm12594 case something to keep his hair down, but in most cases just making sure the rim is well oiled may be sufficient.
The Shop
Air filter oil is designed to become tacky, to an almost dry state. It will adhere to the air box, if not greased.
A simple coat on the surface will provide the much needed seal. It's cheap insurance, and your air filter will not glue it's self to the intake box.
I use No toil...it's cleans better, easier, and your filters last longer.
Sounds like your friend knows a little bit about moto so keep listening to him.
"The neoprene gasket adheres to the air filters rim inside your dirtbikes air box. The neoprene creates a larger sealing surface and is memory enhanced for a perfect seal fit again and again. The adhesives are not affected by gas and oils, so the Pro-Seal will not separate from the air filter rim once installed."

Slop it on.
PS. We ride in sand country all the time and if we don't put it on there and really soak our filters that shit gets through and goes into the motor.
1.wash off dirt with water
2.spray simple green
3. Rinse the simplegreen off
4.squeeze the access water
5. blow filter with air compressor
6. spray filter with mineral oil
no worms or minnows needed around here. Just drop an empty hook.
