Fortunately we've not had to add any to the list since last June.
PS Hey Andy!
The future does not look good for any of them. It is the whole NIMBA (not in my back yard) thing with residents who have moved to the area over the last 15 years.
Two of these tracks are clubs and have very, very deep history (with each of them hosting races every year and going all the way back to the 1950's).
The location of the tracks are about 1 hour and 30 minutes north of New York City, and they are (or were) part of AMA District 34 and the MSC. In the flush years, the tracks got really good rider turn outs, sometimes well over 500-600 riders, which shows the health of the sport in the area (or a lack of alternatives, take your pick which it is)
What is tragic is that these are some of the closest tracks to the major population base on metro new york, and when they are gone, they are gone. The likelihood of new tracks within a reasonable driving distance for many residents is slim.
Losing tracks and clubs like this is terrible for the sport, and does not help to bring in new, younger riders.
I will let someone with more knowledge of the matter chime in, but from what i hear it is not a rosy future, and i suspect the towns will keep pushing, even if it takes another few years. In other words, it wont be getting any easier for them.
This quote implies it is noise related - "I don't want to say poor, poor, pitiful me, but it seems like anyone's noise is acceptable but mine."
Srry for venting I am just fucken pist off
I doubt the anyone involved on the other side reads this forum, but you never know....
I understand your point trust me I went through it here in Milford CT spent a lot of time and money put my business on the line and when it was all said and done they already had there mind made up they are two face and I had to relocate because they hate what my business stands for
There is nothing I am saying that they have not already herd and if someone does read this board they can contact me at
John Slater 203 878 2379 I would love to sit down and talk this thing out and fine out what we need to do to starighten it all out.
But I have a feeling that those tracks are on the way out and it sucks
Johnnny Coen leased diamond back form Kolmoski Coen had a time limit
This guy owns both tracks and ace is a private club which leases it off komolski how ever you spell his name.
Walden is and was grandfathered in, just that someone tried playing hard ball with the town.
You ever think about having no noise period? Maybe everyone who rides or races has to have a offroad silencer. Maybe instead of blaming, you should try it and see what happens when there is no noise for them to complain about.
Pit Row
I hate living in this area anymore. It is nothing like it was when I grew up, and a far, far, cry from when my family moved here 40 years ago. I need to move away from all BS like my parents did when they moved here to get away to the country!
went to new hampshire last weekend jumped on line there where a lot of places to ride
and some where state run I am looking to move somewhere
they have a couple hundred acres that the town wants someone to developed for tax revenue thats what its about and if they power play anthony kolmoski make him get fed up and sell then they will build houses bottom line
you can feel what you want but you are way off base on this one
I keep getting told fixing noise won't help anything, but then I keep seeing with my own eyes that noise is the reason for everything posted here about track closings.
I have been around this for a long time I have been talking with people all morning getting the scoop they had a meeting last night it was an open forum people taked it was civil but now the appeals starts that is a long process the town hates the tracks remember years ago no one I mean no one was around up there
and little by little people move in knowing damm well they where buying a house near a motocross park. And now that the world is in the shitter forclosures all over the place up there no work it looks like a ghost town and now they want a development for tax revenue because they are broke.
when KTM make that electric bike the same price as a reugular bike we will not be having this conversation it will be about errosion
