Hey so after bending up my pipe pretty bad I have also linked the subframe slightly

Has anyone used AC to replace OEM? A 2016 subframe for a kx450 is quite expensive...

Thanks in advance

They are junk. Soft as butter. I ended up finding someone parting out a new kx450f on eBay. It was significantly cheaper than MSRP.

Used one back in 1998. It was totally fine and fit perfectly on my 1995 CR125. But that was 21 years ago. Things change.

I had one in 1996 on a cr125. As has been said in this topic, I found it fit well. Unfortunately it bent easily “soft as butter” was a correct phrase to describe it. Maybe things have changed in 23 years.

OEM is best. There’s a new one for $290 +$11 shipping on eBay right now which isn’t much more than the one from AC racing.

I’ve got one on my Kawi. I’ve only put an hour on it so I can’t say much about strength, but the hole where the plastic screws in didn’t thread very well. Besides that little nuance, it seems okay to me

Recently bought one for my 17' CRF450 from them over eBay . Had a nasty crash that bent my OEM subframe beyond recognition.

I was not gonna buy an OEM subframe, here is South Africa they are ridiculously overpriced , they charge (R15000) about $950 going on the current US exchange rate. The AC racing one was a steal for R4500 ($293)

Fitment of the AC racing subframe was 100% correct. Had no issues whatsoever. Already had a crash with the new one and didn't bend.

Hope this helps !

I asked the same question when I bent my subframe on my 2009. Same answers, the aftermarket replacement is junk. I ended up bending mine back in place.

I have a OEM subframe for sale in the Bazaar currently with a factory race team green airbox installed. I am motivated to sell so if you are interested make me an honest offer.

I have just watched your thread, nice parts ! I am sure the OP will like it too ! (I don't think the shipping costs are huge to Australia, a subframe + airbox + box should weight less than 2 kilos)

AC Subframes are complete junk. I bought one to save money over OEM for a 2015 kx450 and it cracked completely thru after two rides. I attempted to contact them and received no response. They don't answer there phone or emails. I took it to a fab shop to be repaired and they noticed it had broken in that spot before and was rewelded very poorly. I think they broke it during manufacture while bending it and rewelded it. I ended up buying an OEM one thru RMATV and it worked great. Save yourself some money in the long run and get an OEM one.
