Wonder what's up with only 32 riders showing up for the SX class at Huston. It doesn't look good on CBS to have that many open gate positions at the start! Seems really weird for someone who has a best lap time of 1:08 to make the show.

Does that mean the new licensing rules aren't working? Or is something else up? I know some riders are hurt, but I would expect 60 - 80 riders to show up for the daytime qualifiers.

Any ideas?

Lose about 12 more riders and they wouldn't even have to run heats or LCQs anymore. More time for fireworks...yipee.

Well with the 2 minutes coverage of heat one, 1 minute of heat two, and no coverage of LCQ, why even have 32 riders. <img class= " title="Sad">

Let me be Captain:

Pretty obvious that there's something wrong somewhere.

hell they will pull riders out of the stands like they did how many years ago to get 20 on the gate for a main. unless you are a top 10-15 type rider you can make more money doing other things then stupercross, riding regional and or arena series events. Not necessarily arenacross series stuff either.

I could go on & on about this, like I told you so, blah, blah, blah. They need the Privateer but don't want the Privateer.

32 riders show up and still you got recognizable names like Sorby, Rivas, Voss, Adams, and Dostal going home early.

That's the way LN wants it. No place for locals at SX.

Next it will be fan attendance down, well not fan attendance, attendance in general. You will still have the FMX, Monster Trck people show up. Maybe LN is getting out of motorsports at the right time.

Out of the top 10 A/Pro Sport overrall finishers at Loretta's. I think only 3 riders recieved factory supported rides for the coming year. The remaining 7; some received non-factory privateer support and some received nothing at all. Due to a scenario like that, where is the talent and the rider participation going to come from? The Arenacross series doesn't produce a lot of new riders either. Small teams can't afford to race. And riders supporting themselves cannot afford to race either. The rider pool is drying up.

Like was said in another thread today, the factories only care about SX, not the outdoors. Funny, but there sure seems like plenty of guys show up and try to qualify for the MX races. 40 man gates and qualifiers to get there. But SX is the future of the sport.:roll:

If I am wrong they make all new riders ride a 250f in Sx for so long or on each coast its something dumb. If they continue to do that they will never have a full 450 gate like people want.

Who in their right mind, if they aren't on a salaried team (isn't this thet direction LN/AMA want every rider to be? On a team or out?), who would want to go to the expense to try and run the SX class for a whopping prize of $300?? Heck, it cost them $200 just to enter.

Make the prize money worth their efforts and more might show up.

I'll always disagree with the qualifying for a SX license. If you're a PRO, you're a PRO and to me that qualifies you enough to make your own decision whether or not to try and qualify for a SX event. I don't get the "that dude don't belong out there" argument either. Are we now going to act like the gov't and make decisions for people now too?

Qualifying seemed to have full gates back then.

It is very easy to get a pro license trust me. That 300 is on top of factory contengincy (sp) people always seem to forget about that.

Live Nation/AMA with their qualifying rules/points system has made it too difficult and costly for 'amatuers' to want to become a 'pro' AMA license holder. Sure the qualifying/points system looks good on paper, but in the real world it has and will continue to damage pro rider head counts. Plain and simple.
