Whats up Vital! Here is my current project.
I will give you a quick back story. I work at a motorcycle dealership. I was on vacation in Las Vegas last month and received a call from a friend at work and he said he came across something that I might be interested in. He said he had a 2000 KX 500 he had only seen one picture of and the seller said it was running. I simply told him I'd take it.
Here we are about a month later and I've done a couple small things and I will update this blog as I build the bike. I have a lot of projects at home so I wont be going crazy too quickly. My plan for this bike is to make it a runner. Not some fancy show bike to post pictures of for the social media nerds. Just a strong running, fun 500 that I can take to the track here and there and ride out in the desert as well.
Here is the original picture I saw before I saw her in person.

One of my good friends from work went to pick up my new baby and had himself a good ole American celebration on the way back to San Diego.

First little bit of parts came in. I went with the Renthal Carmichael High bend because I am 6ft 2

Took my lady to a movie this weekend and stopped by the little sticker shop in the mall. Had them make me some retro swing arm decals that came out pretty cool.

The carb was dirty on the outside but the inside was actually perfect and the previous owner even had it jetted correctly which is a good sign of things to come.

Brought her out to the local track for a shakedown. Overall the motor runs strong, jetting is perfect. I need to completely rebuild the suspension which doesn't surprise me. Brakes were great just need to make the bike more comfortable for my statute.

Here is a video of me riding it. Keep in mind this is my first time riding this bike, its 17 years old with stock suspension and tires. And I personally haven't ridden in about 6 months so go easy on me lol.

The Shop
I want to do the same thing you are doing, make a solid bike ready to ride. My plan is KYB SSS (check), Brembo Brakes (check) and Compression release on the head. Other than those special items, just do the normal things freshening a bike up.
Pit Row
I like the modern front end, I was a little bit tempted but stuck with the old (I got as far as buying a green cycra front number plate)
Thanks for the love on my scooter... I've not had chance to ride the old girl in a while, would like to get out once more this year before the weather closes in...
Keep those updates coming
Also a couple of my radiator fins are pushed in any tricks or tips to fix these?
