Good news guys, my graphics are being printed this week and I ordered some frame guards from Works Connection. I am probably going to have to slow down on buying parts for this thing only because I still haven't sold my 450. I will post some pictures of the stuff I am getting this week. Also my plan is to go to Glamis on Saturday night after work and will be riding all day Sunday so I am going to take as many pictures and GoPro as I can when I am there for your viewing pleasure. Thank you to everyone for checking in on this thread

Congratulations on the marriage... I have been married 6 years in January... My old sidecar will live again... Beach racing season is over now so I have almost a year to sort her, might try and get out on my regular K5 this weekend...

Lips and edges of everything smothed off then polished, needs polishing again in this shot, I have a v-force 3 Reed Block that it breathes through too, your bike looks rad... I’m gonna have to go down the flo 500 on the swing arm route, that looks awesome!!!

Thank you! Do you do the mod to the carb yourself? Also where do you get the v force from?

No I didn’t do it myself, although I’m gonna have a go at copying it with an old carb body... V-force was an eBay find about 18 months ago....

Had my 5-0 out side today so I took a couple of up to date photos with the green fork guards, CR front brake hose, blue silicone hoses, she’s parked for the winter now in the U.K, it will be pretty wet until March time... Will sling some new tyres on over the winter and gotta update the swinging arm decals to a pink 500 I think...

I just read straight through your thread.
Nice, love what you have done.
I took notes so I can comment and ask questions... hope you don't mind :-)
Guts racing makes awesome seat covers.
But they also make comfort foam for us older guys with boney butts Lol...
I rode my buddies K5 last year and he has the comfort foam...
I will be replacing all my K5 seats with the comfort foam.
Suspension, nothing will make you faster then having your suspension dialed in.
I really like the Pro Action valving as well as the Race Tech valving.
The Pro Action is much easier to install as their directions are better and the valves come with the shim stacks pre set up.
Then, if you want a bit more get a 450 front end.
The fork tubes will go right into your KX triple.
Then do a revalve and springs and you will be smiling.
I have bled hundreds of brakes if not more over the years.
Bleed the brakes with a vacuum pump, nothing works better, it's quick and does an amazing job.
Want to keep that polished aluminum looking better for longer?
Cerakote now makes a clear finish for polished aluminum.
What color of Cerakote did you do the clutch cover in?
At some point you will do a rebuild of that engine. When you do, be sure to balance the crank asy.
It makes a world of difference.
Also, the way you torque down the engine to the chassis makes a big difference on vibrations.
The IMS pegs are good.
Carb info.
A quad vent 38mm Airstriker will flow higher velocity with more volume then the stock 39mm stock carb.
The Airstriker will flow the same volume as a 41mm but again with higher velocity and much better bottom end throttle response.
On a completely stock K5 the Airstriker will gain you 1 RWHP over the stock carb.
A 44mm Lectron will gain you 2 RWHP on a stock bike but you will loose bottom and mid range.
You can get a new Airstrike from Sudco for about 200 USD.
Watch out on eBay for knockoff Airstrikers.
They are a lot cheaper but do not offer the performance.
If you are looking for a used Airstriker, look for one from a 96-97 KX250 or a 2000 CR250.
Good build, Thanks for posting.

Oh yeah... One more thing.
This has been proven on the dyno..
The VF2 flows better and gives more HP then the VF3... Really...
Why?
Take a look at these pics..
VF3... Notice the pinch?

It fit's better with a 10mm reed torque spacer but it still flows less then the VF2

Here is a pic of the VF2 with no torque spacer.... It's better..

Since MT had not made the VF2 in 15 years it took a lot of talking and evidence to get them to bring back the VF2.
They are available by special order only.

Thank you for all of the information that will really help me out. I am going to get the IMS pegs. The color of cerakote I used was Bronze.

Can you please send me the link of where to get that rad valve you are talking about!

Also, I have large feet and want to put a long shif lever and brake lever on. Are you aware of which model levers I can fit onto my k5? I can't seem to figure that out.

Thank you for all of your help.

I have one new VF2 left.
I can get more but they take time to get.
They are 168 delivered anywhere in the USA.
You can PM me and I'll give you all my contact info.

On the rear brake lever you can use one off a KX450F as long as your shift shaft is a 1994 or newer.
If your shift shaft is older then 94 you can get a 94 and newer and install it as they will interchange perfectly.
I like the Hammerhead levers as they come up to 20mm longer then stock...
Perfect if you wear 12+ Laughing

I have a whole bunch of tech tips I have wrote at KX Guru Racing

Picked up some IMS Enduro Core pegs, here is comparison to stock.

Had to drill holes in the pegs for the springs and was able to use the stock springs. Didn't turn out as pretty as some might like but they work perfect.

What do you guys think I should do next? I have a VF2 reed cage on the way. I'm thinking of rebuilding the wheels and brakes next...
