The Ducati Desmo450 and the TLD team are the first we've ever seen show up to A1 and what will be multiple rounds with bikes, rig, staff, everything just to announce their upcoming racing partnership. Pretty cool. Michael Lindsay

This Desmo450 is one of the early prototype units that was cleaned up and prepped by Troy's team to unveil. Michael Lindsay

They've reduced the size of the front fender since the original model was unveiled in Tony Cairoli's livery at EICMA two years ago. Michael Lindsay

Showa components front and rear. The front forks looked to be a mix of factory and production-based parts, while the shock looked to be a fairly production-ready version. Michael Lindsay

Seeing the Shell logo in moto will be interesting. Could more large oil/petroleum brands make their way into our sport like they are in other motorsports? Michael Lindsay

Akrapovic is one of Ducati's racing partners. When this bike races, it should be in a similar livery to this bike, but with proper number plates. Michael Lindsay

For everyone thinking the green hubs have something to do with Monster, it doesn't. The green is "Lamborghini" green and Troy's nod to the Italian heritage of Ducati. Note, Ducati's parent company also owns Lamborghini. Michael Lindsay

Overall, the frame geometry reminds of us of a Honda bit and we know that was one of their heavily tested baseline bikes. It makes sense when you think that a CRF's Unicam engine is probably the tallest 450 engine currently on the market. The Desmo450 and its' Desmodromic valve system create a taller engine than anything on the market. Michael Lindsay

So what's up with the Chip Ganassi logo? We asked Troy and he said Chip is of course a long-time friend and someone who pushed him to continue racing and do this deal with Ducati. With that, he's asked Chip to get involved but we're not entirely sure on what level yet. If we'd have to guess, it'll involve partnerships with sponsors between the TLD team and Ganassi's automotive motorsports ventures. Michael Lindsay

Their logo has also been shortened. Michael Lindsay
PitBitsA1-209.jpg?VersionId=TnkQO4SBp3H
The team's 2025 plans came about a little on the later side and with the changes to the new CRF chassis, they would've had to order all-new kit suspension. The lead time to get enough components for the season would be over five months, so the team chose to stick with production-based components for 2025. Something Factory Connection has lots of experience with, having raced with production components on their own team back in the 2009-2010 era. Michael Lindsay

PitBitsA1-183
Hmmm, the HRC team seems to have an updated Showa fork. From our best guess the compression adjuster has a smaller adjuster inside of it (the raised silver dial) which probably controls pressure spring preload? Kawasaki has had something like this before. As for the larger phillips head plug facing toward the front number plate, we'd guess that its for air pressure insertion. Basically, you could draw data from this plug or add air to make the fork an air assist fork. Using a controlled amount of air pressure to assist the mechanical spring force. Michael Lindsay

The Pro Circuit team has taken an aggressive approach to the air box on the new KX250. They've adopted an airbox that allows them to use the outgoing model air filter (or one very similar) and cut out for the side plate that mimics the old airbox and is riveted in place. Michael Lindsay
PitBitsA1-169

SKF fork seals. Also, this is a production KYB fork that Mark has converted into an air-assist fork. Michael Lindsay
PitBitsA1-149
Colt Nichols machine is also running this converted fork but relying on a larger presence of air according to Johnson. While Kenny's air pressure level is more of assistance-levels, Nichols is running a combination that teeters on hybrid levels with a low spring rate and more air pressure than his teammates. Yarrive Konsky's team is no longer Firepower Honda, it's now Quad Lock Honda! (Quad Lock is an Australian-based company). Michael Lindsay
PitBitsA1-146.jpg?VersionId=YfqzMHR
We all knew that Joey Savatgy would be racing Supercross in the 450 class for Konsky's team, but Shane McElrath was a very last-minute addition. Michael Lindsay
PitBitsA1-141
The team has also added new sponsors such as Pro Honda oils and Rocky Mountain ATV-MC. They also gained small backing from Progressive through Honda, the same as Phoenix Racing Honda. Michael Lindsay

PitBitsA1-138

PitBitsA1-104.jpg?VersionId=WmtKOE
It sounds like just a couple weeks before the season opener, most of the Austrian factory riders swapped from the works shock and linkage, instead opting to use the publicly available Pro Components shock and a production linkage.
