He crashes because he can't properly grip the bike like he used to because he can barely put weight on the right foot. He has to completely change his riding style. Did he have to push like that in moto 2? Probably not. But that's probably the only chance for him to win this title at this point. Hunter is stronger at the end of the motos, if Jett doesn't drop him mid moto, Hunter will reel him back in. Jett doesn't have the fitness currently. He can't even ride and do full motos during the week due to recovery...

Jett is suffering out there for sure. Even when he wins he looks trashed afterwards. Hope after the playoffs he takes time to get healthy and back up to speed.

I suspected 5-8th place and he was a little further back. New bike outdoors, very little time because of injury, yeah this all sounds about right. The pace is high at the front.

He was 5th second moto and got gapped by 20+ seconds. If he was on the pace he could have been there. I agree it is making it more exciting and I wish he was up there battling.....but he is not there. Starts or not. Like when Jett decided to pass him at Southwick it was warp speed different.

He had top 5 start and Jett had it to a 23 seconds until gap and when he fell Hunter had it at 19 seconds lol. But ok!

Nobody will ever say that they rode poorly. Always a setup issue.

The general philosophy used to be, “get the bike to about 90% of where you want it to be, then figure out how to ride it.” This was during a time when there was more separation between riders on things like fitness and technique though. I think so many riders today are nearly evenly matched on fitness and technique that they’re searching for any little edge they can find with the bike. I have a clapped out Honda SL125 that I occasionally “struggle” with. I would love to “struggle” with a new Star Yamaha YZ250F . I would be happy to struggle my ass off on that thing.
