I think cooper will do better than most think. Top 3 in mx2. Gerts and Prado will be the two ahead of him.

I'm pretty sure an Italian rider by the name of Antonio Cairoli has proven that theory wrong. Did you see prado at red bud or villo at buds creek.

Its driven by the consumers ultimately. 450s for us old vet riders is great. Sure I can be faster on a 250F and a 350F, but I have to wring the crap out of it in the process, which beats up the valve train and thus requires more maintenance. For most vet riders, lugging a 450 means it gets you around the track easier and is super reliable, incredibly reliable. I want power when I need it and I want reliability. I couldn't give 2 shits about winning races or being the fastest guy on the track anymore. I have...

I didn't say you can run any size jet. You can reread my post. The stock YZ2 engine can run better with optimum jetting, but it won't necessarily pick up more power up top unless the cyl. port timing is changed combined with a head reshape. Some engine tuners will raise the exhaust port aprox. 1mm to achieve that depending on the engine. That will raise the peak power in the upper part of the powerband range. Agree with you on the overbore of 265 as far as not being worth it. I've ridden on a couple & didn't feel...

Are you saying then that you can run any size jet you like and the top end power will stay the same ? On my 250 dropping the main jet a few sizes really cleaned up the top end producing more peak power and delaying the drop off after peak. My 265 build ended up running very different jetting and...

Proper jetting definetly changes the power. I've had mine on a dyno and messed with all sorts of things over the years. I was not suggesting that any motor should be run extremely lean so as to detonate or overheat. Just that running rich will lose power in my experience. I'm completely on board with williamsmotoworx suggestion. Second clip and...

Really depends on what jetting you have. Personally I would experiment with the main jet and be looking to go slightly smaller. Lean is where the power as long as you have a margin of safety. 2nd clip on needle and 178 main is usually a good start. Then tweak from there. Altitude and humidity etc can make a big...

These posts kill me. The amount of R&D? Have you ever seen japanese 2 stroke boat engines? 2 stroke road bike engines? Fuel injected, direct injected, etc. the japanese brands had KTM technology in the 80’s and 90’s. Difference being, they saw the way of the future with emmissions and didnt waste their time and money bringing it to motocross applications. KTM in no way brought tech to the market that the other brands hadnt already had. For decades longer than KTM. Kudos to KTM for selling it, people are buying in to it.

I have same. I just used an oversize 270mm disk and the right adaptor bracket for a 2010. Caliper and all remained the same. You might even get away with stock disk with just the adaptor bracket, I know my mate did on his when he borrowed my forks for 6 months and used his std wheels. Ideally get the...

Sounds good. I rode a mates 2018 ktm350 that was nice. Didn't really notice it to be any lighter than my 2013 crf450 when riding on the track but does feel it in the pits. Motor was nice, don't think it would give up much on the straights. Not quite as easy to lift the front wheel with just the...

Be interested on what you think if you try a 2012 350 compared with the Crf450. Got a friend in work deciding between similar. I know the ktm is around 5lbs heavier than the crf450 in those years but people appear to say they feel lighter.

178 main , 48 or 50 pilot. 2nd clip on needle. Ditch the turbine core if you dont need it. Should put you in ball park and not risk being on the lean side.

Brilliant review but when will it be finished. Was really looking foward to seeing the laptimes. Be great to see how the data backs up or contradicts the rider opinions.
