Slamdrew Started a new thread Reading engine hours on 13 RMZ 250
6/22/2020 2:37pm So I just recently bought a 2013 RMZ 250 with one previous owner and want to see how many hours are on it before I put a new hour meter on. Suzuki dealers are no where near me, and I would rather not buy Suzuki's FI indicator light and 12v connector. Is it a big deal to connect a light...

5/25/2014 4:47pm No problem at all. People helped me out and supplied advice when I first started riding and it only makes sense to do the same. I'm a pretty new rider as well. Not so much to the mechanical side of things, but I don't have a lot of seat time. Another important thing to do that I thought about after...

Slamdrew Added a reply to Rmz 450 FI light indicator use ???
5/21/2014 6:48pm No, I didn't try running the bike with the light plugged in. And the way you described it would be the smart way to show engine run time, Suzuki doesnt do it this way. You have to have a digital stop watch and start the timer when the second light comes on, then stop it when the second light turns...
Slamdrew Added a reply to Rmz 450 FI light indicator use ???
5/21/2014 1:53pm Well, I dont know if you have seen my other post, but I figured it out. You should be able to read hours with just your indicator light, a 12 volt battery, some wire, and a stop watch. I don't know for sure if the 250 and 450 are the same concerning wire colors, but I put 12 volts directly...
Slamdrew Added a reply to Reading engine hours on 13 RMZ 250
5/21/2014 12:41pm Ok, I figured it out. Hopefully this will help anyone google searching for this info like I was. I would think a 2013 RMZ 450 would be the same, but this was done on my 250 to read original hours on the bike. You'll need a second person to make it easier. I just got a little 12v LED bulb...
Slamdrew Added a reply to Rmz 450 FI light indicator use ???
5/20/2014 7:44pm Cool, thanks. No rush. If you can't that's fine too. I can probably figure it out with a wiring diagram.

5/20/2014 7:39pm That is a nice first bike for sure. Buy a service manual. If you haven't already, I would change the engine oil, coolant, and maybe fork oil and recharge your shock if you are really serious. And install an hour meter. It probably doesn't need to be said, but be sure to do regular maintenance on it and it will...

5/20/2014 7:23pm Can you do me a favor and let me know which color wires your FI indicator completes the circuit to? Does it plug into where you plug in the different couplers for lean, rich, or standard?
Slamdrew Added a reply to Rmz 450 FI light indicator use ???
5/20/2014 7:12pm Yeah I actually just made a similar post. I know only the newer models have the hour meter built in. I am not sure which year 450s, but I know only 2013 and up 250s have the engine hour meter in the ECM. Previous years can still use the FI indicator to see problems with the bike. If you are...

5/13/2014 6:02pm This is pretty awesome. I will have to try this with an old helmet. Good videos too. The beginning of your GNCC race made me laugh. I love the attitude of offroad riders opposed to motocross riders. At least around my area it seems that way. Thanks for sharing your idea.
Slamdrew Started a new thread I want your advice on what bike to keep.
5/8/2014 1:42pm So my first dirtbike I bought, a 2003 CR 125 got stolen only after 3-4 real rides on it. It's the one in my profile picture in the back of a Dakota. I really liked the bike a lot but I knew I would probably like a 250f more. So I started my hunt for a 250f. I found a...

Slamdrew Started a new thread Please describe what my 2t throttle response should be.
5/2/2014 12:01pm So before I hardly got any rides on my 2003 cr 125, it was stolen. I recovered it, engine seized, laying in a ditch for god knows how long. I rebuilt it, and cleaned the carb. Since the rebuild, it is not how I remembered it. I don't know if its because I got used to how a 4 stroke...

5/2/2014 12:01pm Thanks for the help everyone. Stooper and Nationalwrench were spot on. I set the powervalve flaps in the head per the manuals instructions, but did not set the actuator correctly. My powervalve was stuck open. I really appreciate the help. Thankfully I was able to sell the bike the way it was meant to be.
Slamdrew Started a new thread Do I want fuel injection?
4/30/2014 6:01pm I am going to spend 3 to 4 grand on a 250. I am looking for original or second owner, non rebuilt bikes. Without having a lot of seat time on various newer model bikes- which do you guys recommend? Should I aim for fuel injection, or just a very clean slightly older model? Thanks for any input.

4/30/2014 6:01pm I appreciate the offer, Chaser, but I am coinicidentally looking at a 13 KX250f only one and a half hours straight west of me. If I am still looking for a bike when I visit my brother, I will contact you. I just got back from looking at an 11 RMZ 250. The bike was beat on more than the...

4/29/2014 6:32pm It will be mostly track, but some woods riding also. I have a 125 two stroke. I want a four stroke.

4/20/2014 3:57pm First of all, I laughed out loud because when my bike was stolen, it was recovered in Warren Ohio. But second, I am not talking about actually riding it fast. When I ride it on a track, I am only in the powerband or very close to it. I am just curious for tuning purposes. I guess I am probably...

4/11/2014 7:46pm Well, after reading and hearing about horror stories, I still went ahead and bought the ebay wiseco top and bottom kit. Ignorance is bliss. A guy I work with said he had tons of issues with one wiseco crank build, but they were always more than ready to help him out. After a month long headache, wiseco actually ended up...

4/3/2014 6:09pm Thanks for the help everyone. I will take the majorities advice and keep the 125 to learn proper technique this season, then look to sell it and get a 250f next season. Thanks again for your opinions.

4/3/2014 6:09pm I posted this in the New Rider section and didn't get many replies. I am looking for more opinions.
