Grew up learning to ride on a small KDX100 during family summer vacations, mainly flying around a grass field. Had a FZR for a few years in my 20's. No 50 years old, 5'11" and 190lbs. Though, I have installed a G2 Throttle Tamer and switched out the Yellow power valve spring for then Green one. Will provide more updates as I get more time on the...

If I were in your shoes I’d be looking at a 250f either something like a ktm 250xcf or a Yamaha 250fx. Both of those bikes have great resale and are known to be generally bulletproof. A 125 and 250 two stroke is fun but no matter what they are finicky. Jetting and power wise, a 125 is either on or off generally and a yz250 for me was not fun in the woods. Yes the suspension was good but it was rigid and the power was abrupt and just generally not much fun for trail riding. Some good racers...

125 or 250? I say go 200. My favorite bikes of all time have been my KTM 200 MXC and my current Beta 200RR. Absolutely perfect trail machines for what I need and want in a bike.

I am about the same age and size as you and live in Manheim PA. Raced moto in the 80s and 90s and didn’t ride off road again till was 48. Got a used YZ250 for some lite moto and trail riding. Got more into the woods and worked on making the YZ more off road friendly. It was ok but was never a woods bike. I bought a used KTM 250xc and have been super happy with it. Way better in the woods than the YZ. E start is the best thing ever. Still ride some moto which it...

Why not try a Honda 250x or Yamaha wr250? Something with an electric start is nice. They are nice and plush when riding on trails. We had a honda and it seemed pretty bullet proof.

1A: There really no maintenance tip towrd the 2t anymore, both platforms have their advantages maintenance wise. Fun factor definitely may point one way or another, though. 2A: YZ125X model comes from Yamaha with 18" rear wheel, side stand, and smoother power delivery. 2B: Same, as question 2a but YZ250X
