Here is a picture of an aluminum framed RM125 that was raced in the All Japan Nationals around 1994. The riders felt that the frame was too harsh and it never moved forward. I took this picture around 1996 as it sat collecting dust. The frame was absolutely beautifully done, though.

The thing most seem to miss with coatings is that it's not about seal friction/stiction; it's about bushing friction. Seal friction/stiction is irrelevant as others have mentioned here. It's constant and is compensated for with valving. If you remove all seal friction/stiction, you'll need slightly firmer valving to compensate. No real advantage to coatings there (though arguably a tiny advantage over initial response). But while seal friction is independent of side loading, bushing friction is entirely dependent on side loading and varies by the side load, e.g. hitting any bump not directly in-line with the forks, which is most every...

The problem is you can’t tell when you are overheating a hydro. It auto adjusts until it’s gone. With the cable you get a lot of warning in the lever, can adjust and go easy on the clutch for a bit and actual feel it start to come back.

i will still give the benefit of the doubt to a four time world champion over the race team that has driven every high profile rider away in recent memory with John Tomac stating “they wouldn’t go in the direction we wanted”… it’s on prado to perform now that he is back where he feels comfortable and it will be interesting to see how chase does over at Kawi.
