Because Satan has been allowed to be in control. Once Satan challenged God , basically saying that man can rule themselves without god. So he’s been given the opportunity to prove his point , thus becoming the ruler of this world. Remember when Satan tempted Jesus 3 times? In one of those temptations he offered Jesus all the Kingdoms of the world and their glory….. Matthew 4:8-9. How could Satan offer those Kingdoms if they weren’t his to give?
